DC Comics Solicits - September 2026

Nearly a month ago, DC released their September solicits. But the Summer of Supergirl, an increase in super-titles, and the My Adventures With Superman show have pushed this post back to mid-July. Champagne problems. When there is so much Supergirl content that I have to shuffle posts, it is a good thing.

And it looks to be another great month for DC and another bad month for my wallet. Right out of the gate, I can tell you I am buying Gotham City General, a book about working in a hospital in Gotham City. I am very interested in reading it. But there is also a new Doom Patrol and as a fan of the Patrol I will surely give this new take a try. There is also a new Teen Titans, and another new book that I will discuss later. Lastly, there is a facsimile edition of V For Vendetta #1 coming out. I think DC is putting that out because I have been doing in-depth coverage of the series over on Billy D's Magazines and Monsters podcast. Everyone should be listening and reading along.

I am not the biggest fan of time travel stories back to Krypton. But it will be interesting to see Kara back on Krypton and will she try to somehow stop the planet being destroyed. I do think the idea of Ursa being a Supergirl arch-villain is an interesting wrinkle.

DC Comics August 2026 Solicits

The August solicit for DC Comics have been released and this is the month the Kingdom of Zod event hits the stands. That alone would be news, especially when it sounds like Supergirl will be playing a major role in the event. But there are some other interesting tidbits this month that got my attention.

But before they can remove Zod from power, he unleashes a dangerous new force… What is the K-Zone?!

Do I think it is pretty cool that the opening chapter of the event is in the Supergirl book? Yes I do.

We haven’t seen Zod in a while so I like that his return is splashy in this way. How much of this is coming out of the Kneel Before Zod ? Is he still leading a ragtag group of prisoners? Is he still powerless (as it was implied Superwoman Lois stole his powers)? Is that how he can stay in a K-filled nation?

But the big thing here is Supergirl gathering a super-team to infiltrate. Lois being on the team makes me wonder if she is Superwoman again, perhaps explaining Zod being able to be there. But then again, how can Kara be there if the place is dripping with Green K. 

I’m pretty excited for this.

DC Comics July 2026 Solicits

The July DC Comics solicits have come out and the Summer of Supergirl continues with a number of books on the rack. Throw in some super-mini-series and a anniversary issue of Action Comics and you have a busy month.

As Supergirl starts to gain the upper hand, Black Flame spots an opportunity to escape Kandor and bring the fight to Earth. Powered by the yellow sun, this Kandorian rebel could be unstoppable. It’s now up to Supergirl to rein her in before the entire planet ends up in danger!

Somehow Supergirl is whole again. I am wondering if Lesla's 'super-stuff' is going to be some sort of protomatter similar to Matrix Supergirl, a way to roll that idea into current continuity. And it seems like Lesla and Kara are back to being friends again. I am wondering if this whole thing ends with Lesla being the hero of Kandor, relieving Supergirl of that duty.

Glad to see Campbell on words and art.

DC Comics June 2026 Solicitations

Hope all Supergirl fans have been putting away some money because the Summer of Supergirl continues into June. There are a lot of books on the shelves in June during this month when the movie hits the big screen. I am quite happy that Supergirl is getting such a spotlight!

Nothing can stop Black Flame as she continues to amass power in Kandor. Meanwhile, Lena Luthor searches for Supergirl before it’s too late for the bottled city. Will Lena’s new invention be the key to turning the tide of the battle? Can Kara learn the secrets of the S-Matrix before they’re all found by Black Flame?!

There is a lot to unpack in this solicit, for sure. Let's start with the cover, an homage from a Tom Grummett pin-up that was in the back of Supergirl and Team Luthor special.

The solicit makes it sound like Lena is going to save Supergirl's bacon as they fight Black Flame. But the word that sticks out is 'S-Matrix' ! Given there was a period where Supergirl was Matrix Supergirl, I wonder if this is another look back by Sophie Campbell. 

Perhaps Lesla's 'super-stuff', that goopy stuff, is going to be some 'protoplasm'? Hmmm ...

DC Comics May 2026 Solicits

The DC solicits for May came out this week and they include an interesting blurb in the Absolute Superman solicit that makes me a little worried. I'll also add that the Justice League Unlimited solicit grabbed me as well. But this month is right in the middle of the Reign of the Superboys event and those sound fun too.

The battle between the newly empowered rebel Black Flame and Team Thunder rages on as Supergirl, still at the mercy of her recent cybernetic enhancements, is forced to come up with another tactic to save Kandor from ruin. Can Superboy and Lena Luthor’s arrival turn the tide of the approaching war?

Love the Sophie Campbell cover. I do wonder how Cyborg Supergirl returns to normal. And that yellow ring on Black Flame's finger has to be the Yellow Ring of Nor-Kann meaning Zora has super-powers in Kandor.

I do hope Supergirl wins this war and isn't bailed out by Conner and Lena.

DC Comics April 2026 Solicits

This is a hefty month for Super-books and if you like to trade wait or get omnibus editions, you better start saving your pennies. I am thrilled that Supergirl is getting such a push from the company and I am certain it is because of the film. I can only hope that a new treasury will happen closer to the release date. Hoping the film shows her as the hero I think she is.

The conflict in Kandor between the Science Council and the younger Kandorians is only growing more tense. Supergirl's first run-in with the rebel leader Black Flame ends with her broken and without her powers, forcing her to seek recovery with the Science Council. But despite Supergirl's warning, the Council has their own plan to stop Black Flame: a powerful clone capable of taking down anyone in their path. Enter Team Thunder!

Back in my Supergirl #9 review, I wondered if the Science Council did something to keep the Kryptonian kids shrunk in the bottle. This solicit makes it seem like this time I am right. A revolt from the young Kandorians against the government? Makes sense.

But check out that cover. I recently reviewed an old story where Supergirl lost her powers and needed a Kandorian exo-skeleton. Looks like Sophie Campbell is riffing on that here ... but she looks more Cyborg Superman than donning a sleek model. 

And what about that powerful clone? Who could that be?

Couunt me in.

DC Comics Solicits - March 2026

The March 2026 DC Comics solicits sort of came out last week and it certainly was an interesting mixof Super-solicits in the wake of the ending of DC KO which ends that month..

The biggest thing for me was the 'Reign of the Superboys' arc running through all the Super-titles. Now that title, reminscent of the post-"Death of Superman' arc titled 'Reign of the Supermen' arc, in addition to the complete lack of Superman in any of the super-titles makes me think something must happen to the Man of Steel in KO. Plus 'Symbol variant' covers this month have to be like the Reign of Supermen symbol covers showcasing the 4 shields of the supposed Supermen back then. Intriguing.

Now the name 'Reign of the Superboys' was enough of a hook. But the cover of Superman Unlimited made me pause. Then it made me smile. Settle in.

With the bottled city on fire (literally), Kara Zor-El abandons the comfort of Midvale to save the last survivors of Krypton. The youth are in revolt after a shocking secret is revealed, and the Science Council is put on trial for its crimes against the next generation. Can Supergirl find peace between the two warring factions?

Looking at the cover, it looks like Connor is the Superboy in the Supergirl title. The sight of Boy Thunder is also very interesting given his arc in prior World's Finest stories where he turned out to be Magog. 

It wasn't mentioned in this solicit but in another article about the month, the issue was described like this:"That same week, Supergirl #11 drops Kara into Kandor, strips her powers, and gives her a cybernetic upgrade as she leads a revolution alongside Conner Kent and a legion of Boy Thunder clones."  This has to be Sophie Campbell leaning into the stories in Adventure Comics where Supergirl was powerless and needed a Kandorian exoskeleton to have super-abilities. I love how much Campbell is leaning into Kara's history. 

DC Comics Solicits - February 2026

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate.

For lots of reasons, I think Supergirl fans have a lot to be thankful for in 2025 and these February solicits certainly add to the cornucopia. In fact, I think 2025 has been one of the better more recent years for my comic passion as Superman and Supergirl were front and center and solid comics all around.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that the Vertigo imprint is coming back. I was there at the beginning of the first go-around and those books were so incredible. They came out at the perfect time in my comic reading life. So I might have to sample these new Vertigo books to see if the come near those halcyon days of Shade the Changing Man, Doom Patrol, Hellblazer, Enigma, Kill Your Boyfriend, etc.

But we're here for the Super-books so let's dive in!

It's Valentine's Day in Midvale, and Kara has finally worked up the courage to ask her crush out for the holiday. Little does he know he'll be on a date with Supergirl! Meanwhile, Lena Luthor struggles with their friendship fallout. Can the daughter of Lex Luthor and cousin of Superman ever see eye-to-eye again?

The goth guy from Supergirl #4 returns and you might remember there was some debate about who he is! So is it H'El? Comet? Dick Malverne? Power Boy? Or someone new?

Joe Quinones is the perfect fill-in artist on this title so I will be glad to see his take on the characters. And his variant showing all the crazy love interests in Kara's past is pretty fantastic.

DC Comics Solicits - January 2026

DC's January solicits were released last week and while the Summer of Superman might be over, it could be that 2026 is the Year of Supergirl. 2026 opens with a lot of our favorite hero on the shelves as well as some other interesting surprises.

As the clock and the town of Midvale count down to midnight, Supergirl finds herself surrounded by new friends and found family as she ponders her New Year’s resolution. Will she turn over a new leaf, finally free of the shadow of her famous cousin, Superman? Plus, Lesla has a little secret that could lead to disaster!

I keep wondering if there is a 'chaos stream' story out there for this new Supergirl. So when I read the clock counting down to midnight, I thought it was there, the Witching Hour. But then I saw this was more a New Year's countdown. I wonder what this Kara's resolutions are. I don't mind her feeling independent, free from Superman's shadow and casting her own. But I hope she still feels part of the El family.

Joe Quinones is the perfect fill-in artist for Sophie Campbell on this book. I love his style and think it will mesh with the feel of the book. He drew one of my fave takes on Harley Quinn, so good I reviewed it on another site!

DC Comics December 2025 Solicits

I still think the concept of DC K.O. makes little sense. Heroes fighting heroes is done. That said, I saw the bracket and filled one out like a college basketball conference sheet. I suppose I will be following, at least peripherally. 

But the Supergirl solicits still make me smile and I am glad to see Kara in a couple of other places.

Years ago, to protect her secret identity, a young Supergirl created a robot to pose as Linda Danvers while she ventured around the world saving the day. Now, after years of abandonment, this mechanical Maiden of Might has returned…in the name of vengeance! Can Kara make peace with the past before it destroys her present?

I think blog friend Mart Gray and I have wondered about the Linda Lee robot over the years so to see Sophie Campbell answer the question is fantastic. And these oddities happening in Midvale makes me think we are getting some sort of 'Chaos Stream' hijinks in the book.

Is this Supergirl-specific trip down continuity lane a hit for everyone? I'm not sure. But I hope so. This comic is a delight so far.

DC Comics Solicits November 2025

The big news is the Batman v Deadpool mini-series, an interesting DC/Marvel smash-up. I really doubt I will buy this book but it has some amazing variant covers for potential other team-ups. Zatanna/Scarlet Witch, Big Barda/Rogue, and Nightwing/Wolverine(Laura Kinney) are lovely. But variants alone are not enough to make me buy stuff. 

And DCKO continues to roll through the universe as well. Who will ultimately win the battle royale?

It’s Thanksgiving in Midvale, and Kara is fretting over her first holiday home in a while. With plenty to be thankful for, Supergirl has nothing to worry about, right? Wrong! In an attempt to patch things up with her father, Lena has invited Lex Luthor and his girlfriend, Mercy, home for the holidays. What machinations could Lexcorp have for the sleepy little town? Find out as heroes and villains sit down to break bread and perhaps bones.

Love the cover with Supergirl in a wintry sweater, Princess Shark, and the super-pets ogling the Thanksgiving turkey. This feels like another 'done in one' fun issue. I am glad to see Lex seeking out his daughter. He is a controller and wouldn't want her to be out there and independent. 

DC Comics Solicits October 2025

The big news is the latest big event - DC K.O - a hero versus hero tournament to find out who can handle the Omega Energy and fight Darkseid. I thought Darkseid was dead? I don't know how a beatdown of a friend can determine who is best to hold the energy? And who decides who fights who? I thought I heard somewhere it is a true bracket style tournament. 

But there is plenty of Supergirl fun this month!

I am pretty impressed with the DC Finest digests they are rolling out including Crisis on Infinite Earths on the 40th anniversary. But I have a lot of optimism with what DC is putting out these days. So let's jump right into the books.

When Kara is called away to solve some super-problems in Metropolis, Lena Luthor and the Super-Pets are left to defend Midvale. Can Streaky and Krypto finally put aside their differences for the greater good? Or will they end up fighting like cats and dogs? You won’t want to miss this fun-filled flipbook adventure featuring the newest additions to the Super-Pet family, Titano and Kandy!

Seems like this might be a rest issue after the first 4 issue 'Lesla Lar' arc. It feels a little early for that but it follows the Mark Waid World's Finest format. Plus this one sounds fun. I like Titano in the cape.

If this is the format, arc followed by done-in-one fun, I don't mind Campbell taking that month off from art. But I hope she can continue to be the artist on the 'main' stories.

The 'Spicy Pumpkin' cover has Kara in a green/orange S-Shield sweater, probably to represent fall colors but it reminds me of the re-colored magic Supergirl in reprints of Superman #123.

DC Comics August 2025 Solicits

The full DC solicits for August 2025 came out a bit ago and they sure do highlight that this is the Summer of Superman. There is a lot going on this month and both Superman and Supergirl get a lot of coverage.  Heck, I think I even saw a Kandorian Nightwing on the cover of Nightwing!

In the aftermath of escaped Kandorian Lesla-Lar’s rampage through town, Supergirl learns there’s more to Midvale than meets the eye when Lena drags her to a secret club she never knew existed. Midvale, like her alter ego, may seem mild-mannered, but there’s something special about it. Out from under Superman’s watchful eye, Kara is ready to let loose no matter the disastrous consequences!

Great to see Amy reeder back on covers, even if it is the expensive variant.

As for Midvale being something special, given Sophie Campbell's love of Supergirl history, perhaps she is rolling in a 'Leesburg is over a Hellmouth' feel to this incarnation.

Love the cover. As usual, a feast for a Supergirl fan. Decay from Daring New! Someone who clearly is Wanda Five from the 70s series. And Lena looks so goth she could be Nasty from All-Star Superman!

DC Solicits July 2025

The DC July 2025 solicits came out recently and it truly feels like the Summer of Superman. I also have to say that it sort of feels like the summer of Supergirl. The El family is pretty prominent. Supergirl even gets represented on covers for Justice League Unlimited, JLU Dark Tomorrow, and DC vs Vampires. Throw in her new solo title and that is a lot of Kara in one month. I know it isn't a lot! But I am not complaining!

We'll get to the super-titles soon but I have to point out a couple of non-Super solicits. One is the Titans Annual 2025. Written and drawn by Phil Jimenez, it will focus on Donna Troy's origin! Again! Maybe we'll get something to stick this time!

There are a couple of new DC Finest digests for sale as well. One based on the Spectre including but not limited to the classic Fleischer/Aparo stuff/ The other is a horror anthology with books pulled from all over.

I am pretty pumped at all the great super-books coming out though. On to those details!

Kara and the daughter of Lex Luthor, Lena, have come together to battle a common enemy posing as Midvale’s very own Supergirl! Will Lena’s brains and Kara’s brawn be a match for the super-powered super-genius from Kandor? It’s Supergirl versus Supergirl in a fight for the ages! Plus, the debut of Satan Girl!

So I have been pretty optimistic about the solicits for this title so far but this one has made me very optimistic. I have been waiting to get a creator on Supergirl who seems to know and like the character. Sophie Campbell has Kara teaming up with Lena to fight Lesla Lar. That feels like knowledge and liking.

But Satan Girl !?! 

Now that is a great part of Supergirl's history in all her incarnations! So Campbell bringing it back shows me that she has a grasp of the character and wants to lean into her history. Can't wait to read the book!

DC Comics June 2025 Solicits

The June 2024 solicits for DC Comics came out this week and it looks to be a good month. With the Superman movie coming out in July, DC is making it the summer of Superman. So why not give us some fun stuff to read, starting out with the new Supergirl book.

Discover Lesla’s transformation from an awkward nerd in Kandor to a bombshell superbabe. Who knew Supergirl’s quest for good could inspire such evil?! Back in Midvale, our hero faces a gigantic problem with kryptonite-like powers. Titano the super-ape is here to take over the idyllic town! To defeat him, Supergirl will have to rely on an unexpected new ally from Metropolis…Lena Luthor! The houses of El and Luthor join for good in this action-packed second issue!

There is a lot to noodle about in this solicit for sure.

For one, we are kicking it old school with someone named Lesla from Kandor trying to replace Supergirl. This is pure Silver Age! And having Supergirl become pals with Lena Luthor is both a riff on their friendship in the Silver Age of comics as well as their alliance (for the most part) in the Supergirl TV show. Why not kick it up a notch.

Plenty of cool variant covers here as well. But the standard cover (shown above) is fun. Could that be <gasp> a supporting cast on the left? I hope so.

Knowing Sophie Campbell, there is a chance the Lesla story will be a trans story or a trans allegory. And I suppose all the SuperCorp fanatics will be hoping for a Kara/Lena relationship. Hoping this is just a fun straight-up superhero book!

DC Comics May 2025 Solicits

On top of what is coming out this month, we have heard of a Matt Fraction/Mike Norton Krypto book and Mark Waid/Skylar Patridge run on Action Comics writing Superboy. Get ready for the summer of Superman and, by extension, the Super Family.

I covered my initial thoughts on the new book here . But I will again say that I have optimism around this book. Midvale hasn't been in comics for a long time. That said, the orphanage was mentioned by Mark Waid in World's Finest. So maybe some classic trappings are going to be seen here? And the imposter? Could it be Matrix? Linda Danvers?

All that said, it has been 5 years ( July 6th 2020 ) since we had a Supergirl book 'on the shelves' (remember that the last 2 issues of this volume was released as digital-only). Five years! 

At least Campbell sounds like a fan of the character, more than many who have been on the book.

DC Comics Solicits - April 2025

The steady stream of weekly comics and my schedule has kept me away from doing solicit coverage. 

Now is a great time to restart coverage as the upcoming Superman movie has spurred DC into declaring this the Summer of Superman. That means lots of super-books to cover! But 'Summer of Superman' is just the beginning of what looks to be a great month. 

I'll start with something I probably won't be getting but will look forward to hearing about. Jon Kent is going to be a star in the new Secret Six book. It is interesting that he is called 'Super Son' and no longer Superman. 

I have been really enjoying the current New Gods book, even if only 2 issues in. It is great fun and the art is compelling. In this month's issue, the JLA guest stars.

There is a lot of the 1970's Superman arc 'Kryptonite Nevermore' in this month's solicits. You'll see more below but there is a trade of the story coming out this month too. Denny O'Neil strips Superman's power but eliminates Kryptonite, makes Clark a reporter, and otherwise does a soft reboot.

Lastly, there is a The DC Universe by Steve Ditko Omnibus coming out, stuffed with Hawk and Dove, Creeper. Stalker, and other Ditko ephemera! Incredible!

The big news that dropped earlier this month was that Dan Slott is writing a Superman Unlimited book. I liked Slott on She-Hulk and Silver Surfer. We'll see if he can bring some of that energy here. The fact that Slott has his own book maker me hope Joshua Williamson stays on Superman. And this story sounds fun with a super-wedding. 

Would love to hear what folks think about Slott coming over!

DC Solicitations: January 2025

Between vacations and a glut of comics to review, some other posts kept getting pushed back. So time to look into the future and the new year at the January 2025 DC solicits. The entire slate can be seen here:

Overall, I have to say I am feeling a bit of optimism about DC these days. There seems to be some sort of re-invigoration of the whole universe, perhaps emboldened by the Absolute Universe books. I feel like the main Superman books have been on an upswing recently. 

And I just have a sense that a Legion book is around the corner given all the cameos and guest stints for characters from that IP. 

This month will bring a new creative team to Action Comics. I'm sad to see Mark Waid go. But I am glad he is remaining on World's Finest and the new JLU.

On to the books.

I figured the Doomsday story was going to be a true arc, at least 6 issues so not surprised to see it still churning along. As for an alien strike team ... what do you think? Doomsday Revenge Squad made up of aliens from worlds he has devastated? Will Williamson dig into continuity and bring back some people from planet Calaton?

But the real question in the solicit is 'who is training Lois'? I hope it is Supergirl. It would make sense. Although it would be easy to believe that. Perhaps Lana as Superwoman? More Lois/Lana friction? Barda? Really hope it's Kara.

DC Solicits - December 2024

The DC Comics solicits for December 2024 were released last week and I have to say, for me it feels like things are looking up for DC and I am saying that with almost no interest in the Absolute Universe. DC has some stuff that I talked about last month (New Gods, an Alex Segura Question comic) that sounds very interesting. And the super-comics seem to be picking up some momentum.

This month is another month of Action Comics being weekly so there is a lot to cover. Mark Waid is doing a Phantom Zone story with Clayton Henry with Mariko Tamaki and Skylar Patridge doing a Supergirl back-up. Incredibly, the Tamaki story solicits sound like there will be action and not just moping. We will see. 

Moreover, Supergirl is all over the Action Comics covers, especially Action Comics #1078 where she is on all the variants. 

So let's dive in!

I have talked about my love of Aethyr. I like that there seems to be some sort of universal threat. The family falling from the sky on the cover makes me wonder if somehow the yellow sun is impacted by the shenanigans. 

As for Supergirl, she fights someone named Koncept. We met Konfusion in Superman #18.  Now Koncept? It sounds like maybe Conner has been re-cloned and made evil?
