DC Comics Solicits - January 2026

DC's January solicits were released last week and while the Summer of Superman might be over, it could be that 2026 is the Year of Supergirl. 2026 opens with a lot of our favorite hero on the shelves as well as some other interesting surprises.

Here is a link to all the solicits:

But the big thing is that while DC K.O. continues, Kara shows up in some unexpected places. I am pretty excited by what I am seeing here, including a new collection of one of my favorite Supergirl storylines of all time. Let's take a gander.

SUPERGIRL #9
Written by SOPHIE CAMPBELL
Art by JOE QUINONES
Cover by SOPHIE CAMPBELL
Variant covers by CHRISSIE ZULLO-UMINGA, JOE QUINONES, and LUCAS MEYER
Punk Rock Cardstock variant cover by MARGUERITE SAUVAGE

As the clock and the town of Midvale count down to midnight, Supergirl finds herself surrounded by new friends and found family as she ponders her New Year’s resolution. Will she turn over a new leaf, finally free of the shadow of her famous cousin, Superman? Plus, Lesla has a little secret that could lead to disaster!

I keep wondering if there is a 'chaos stream' story out there for this new Supergirl. So when I read the clock counting down to midnight, I thought it was there, the Witching Hour. But then I saw this was more a New Year's countdown. I wonder what this Kara's resolutions are. I don't mind her feeling independent, free from Superman's shadow and casting her own. But I hope she still feels part of the El family.

Joe Quinones is the perfect fill-in artist for Sophie Campbell on this book. I love his style and think it will mesh with the feel of the book. He drew one of my fave takes on Harley Quinn, so good I reviewed it on another site!

But there's more!
DC’S SUPERGIRL NEXT DOOR #1
Written by NATHAN FAIRBAIRN, CRC PAYNE, ROSIE KNIGHT, DORADO QUICK, NICOLE MAINES, SARAH KUHN, DAVE WIELGOSZ, and more
Art by PAULINA GANUCHEAU, ARIELLE JOVELLANOS, RAFAEL PEREZ, MICHAEL SHELFER, and more
Cover by AMY REEDER
Variant covers by ALEXANDER LOZANO

There’s something about Kara. She’s effortlessly cool, adored by all, and looks great in a cape—she’s truly all that! She could have fifty first dates lined up in a minute, but love actually wasn’t on her radar…until now! In this hot new anthology, join Supergirl and a host of lovestruck heroes and villains as they bravely embark on quests for love, even if it means running through every rom-com trope to get there. You’d be hard pressed to find ten things to hate about this book, so pick it up this Valentine’s Day—and place it on the shelf next to all the books you’ve loved before!

It seems like this is a Valentine's Day special but one month early.

Let's start with the Amy Reeder cover! Gorgeous! Always love Reeder drawing Supergirl.

That's a ton of creators for a 32 page book so these are probably quick hits. Will there be a Supergirl story? Or is the the host? I'll be there!

There's even more Supergirl, but trades are at the bottom!
SUPERMAN #34
Written by JOSHUA WILLIAMSON
Art by EDDY BARROWS and EBER FERREIRA
Cover by DAN MORA
Variant covers by KYUYONG EOM, ROD REIS, ARIEL OLIVETTI, AND MARIO FOCCILLO
Punk Rock Cardstock variant cover by DAVE JOHNSON

Darkseid’s plan worked! Earth has been transformed into Apokolips. His Dark Legion prepares the Earth for his imminent arrival. If Superman is locked in the tournament, who can stand up and defeat them?

The Dark Legion attacking a destroyed Earth? Maybe it is time for the super-family to fight while Superman (and presumably Supergirl) are in the tournament. Or perhaps the 'real' Legion will arrive to fight?  Or maybe Lex is involved giving the cover?

At NYCC, Williamson announced he is writing a new Legion book. Maybe this is a preview of sorts.
ACTION COMICS #1094
Written by MARK WAID
Art by PATRICIO DELPECHE
Cover by RYAN SOOK
Variant covers by CHRIS SAMNEE and ELIZABETH TORQUE
Punk Rock Cardstock variant cover by ANNIE WU

As Superboy is called for his first mission for General Lane, Clark wonders if he made the right decision. As the tension builds, the U.S. government prepares a contingency plan that could put our hero down for good. Plus, Pete Ross has a secret—one he’s reluctant to share with his best friend.

Sort of bummed to not see Skylar Patridge in the credits.

Other covers have Superman in military or police garb in a fight. I wonder if this is the story where he decides to stay as a free agent, or solo operative.

And, perhaps this time I was right and Pete Ross already knows Clark's secret identity.
SUPERMAN UNLIMITED #9
Written by DAN SLOTT
Art by MIKE NORTON
Cover by DAVE JOHNSON
Variant covers by GUILLEM MARCH, KRIS ANKA, CARLO PAGULAYAN and JASON PAZ, and CLAYTON HENRY
Punk Rock Cardstock variant cover by MIKE ALLRED

Mayor Perry White has seen some major threats impact Metropolis over the years —but even the bulldog of city hall is unprepared for a murderous rampage by… the all-new Prankster?! Superman’s now in a race against time to save his friend from a truly sick and twisted death! Do not miss this one. This is the story that will redefine the Prankster as one of Superman’s top-tier rogues. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. Plus: Daily Planet reporter Jon Kent learns a life-changing secret, the Kryptonite Kingdom receives a strange visitor, and Steelworks sees some crazy $%^^%& on the horizon in Die Laughing: Part 1.

I said in a recent review that this book hasn't grabbed me. But this solicit certainly has me curious in a good way. The world needs an updated and scary Prankster. Is Slott up to the task?

Is the strange visitor going to the Kryptonite Kingdom The Strange Visitor? She might be due for a revamp too!

Is Slott up to the task???
BATMAN/SUPERMAN: WORLD’S FINEST #47
Written by MARK WAID
Art by ADRIÁN GUTIÉRREZ
Cover by DAN MORA
Variant covers by E.M. GIST, ADRIÁN GUTIÉRREZ, and CHRIS SPROUSE
Punk Rock Cardstock variant cover by FABRIZIO DE TOMMASO

The combined might of Batman and Superman faces off against the combined might of The Joker and Lex Luthor in the knock-down, drag-out brawl of a conclusion to “The Merger”! Someone is about to get their not-too-distant past kicked!

The Superman/Batman/GL amalgam fighting a Lex/Joker amalgam? Only Mark Waid could come up with such a bananas idea. I do like how some of these World's Finest arcs are slimming down to three issues.
ABSOLUTE SUPERMAN #15
Written by JASON AARON
Art by JUAN FERREYRA
Cover by RAFA SANDOVAL
Variant covers by GERALD PAREL, CARMINE DI GIANDOMENICO, and JUAN FERREYRA

In the shocking aftermath of the Battle of Kansas, Superman wrestles with profound changes to his life, his allies, and even his costume. But more importantly, there’s work to be done, as we experience a day in the life of the world’s busiest superhero–and welcome guest artist Juan Ferreyra (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) to the series!

A lighter blue suit, closer to the classic? A 'day in the life' of an Absolute super-hero? This all after 'the battle of Kansas'?

Is the tone of this Absolute book going to change to a more hopeful one?

And who are the allies? Lois and Jimmy? Or someone more? Definitely looking forward to this.
ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN: BOOK OF EL #5
Written by PHILLIP KENNEDY JOHNSON
Art and cover by SCOTT GODLEWSKI
Variant covers by SAOWEE, LUCIO PARRILLO, and CORIN HOWELL

Kryl-Ux has unleashed a Sun-Eater in the heart of Lanternholm: the galaxy’s only safehaven for the Lightborn people, and the reason for the rift between Ronan and Rowan Kent, who left Earth to become Lanternholm’s guardian. Superman has arrived just in time, but survival comes with a heartbreaking cost. And Ronan has started receiving information from a dark source—can Superman continue to count on him to help save Osul-Ra and Otho-Ra before it’s too late?

Superman fighting a sun-eater in a book by Phillip Kennedy Johnson. I was already in but now I am really in!

And I am actually a little eager to see more of the Super-Twins.
JUSTICE LEAGUE VS. GODZILLA VS. KONG 2 #7
Written by BRIAN BUCCELLATO
Art and cover by CHRISTIAN DUCE
Variant covers by KEVIN MAGUIRE, ALAN QUAH, and CARMINE DI GIANDEOMANICO

This is it! The big finale! Godzilla, Kong and the Justice League versus King Ghidorah, Rodan and the other titans. The question is…whose side is Mothra on?

Sad to see this title end as it has been an absolute blast.

I do hope we get some Supergirl fun in the mix.

But this has been a blast.
DC K.O.: THE KIDS ARE ALL FIGHT SPECIAL #1
Written by JEREMY ADAMS
Art by TRAVIS MERCER
Cover by BRUNO REDONDO
Variant covers by CHRISSIE ZULLO-UMINGA, JOE QUINONES, TODD NAUCK, and JUNI BA

Jon Kent always wanted to be a Titan when he grew up, but now that he’s working alongside them in the effort to evacuate Earth, he didn’t think he’d be stuck babysitting young sidekicks! When the kids sneak off to enter the fray and stop Granny Goodness, Jon will have to show these young heroes the ropes so they can save the day and prove there’s no age requirement to being a superhero—and you won’t want to miss the SHOCKING finale!

Jeremy Adams writing The Boom again? That's awesome.
Jeremy Adams wriring Jon Kent? Sounds like a perfect creator to write our young hero who has been a bit lost recently in the DCU.

Add in Granny Goodness? That's great.

But what if the 'SHOCKING finale' is Jon being de-aged????
Can I hope beyond hope?
SUPERGIRL: BIZARROGIRL (2026 EDITION)
Written by STERLING GATES
Art by JAMAL IGLE, BERNARD CHANG, JON SIBAL, and others
Cover by AMY REEDER

When a Bizarro version of her appears in Metropolis, Supergirl punches first and asks questions later. But when she learns Bizarrogirl is a refugee, on the run from a disaster that threatens to destroy her world, she realizes they have more in common than she thought. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Cat Grant has discovered the heroine’s secret identity. But this thorn in Supergirl’s side isn’t planning to reveal what she’s learned; all she wants is Supergirl’s help confronting one of the DC Universe’s oldest villains. Also included is Supergirl’s trip to the 30th century, where she joins the Legion of Super-Heroes and learns perhaps too much about her future…writer Sterling Gates (Green Lantern Corps, World’s Finest) continues his fan-favorite run on Supergirl, joined by artists Jamal Igle (Firestorm, Nightwing), Bernard Chang (Wonder Woman, Superman), Marco Rudy, and Matt Camp. Collects Supergirl #53-59 and Supergirl Annual #2.

I gushed about the Sterling Gates as it was happening. And I really piled on the praise when BizarroGirl was coming out. If you haven't read these issues, you need to get this trade.

As I have said before, Supergirl does have tragedy and drama in her life but I like when she comes through as perservering and being optimistic and bright. If you want to read a story of her dealing with her trauma where we see her come out the other side in a positive way (unlike in the Woman Of Tomorrow mini) this is the story to read.

Brilliant. Poignant.

I am so glad this run and in particular this arc is being resubmitted for new audiences!
SUPERGIRL: BEING SUPER (2026 EDITION)
Written by MARIKO TAMAKI
Art and cover by JOËLLE JONES

New York Times bestselling and Caldecott Honor-winning writer Mariko Tamaki (This One Summer, Roaming) and Eisner Award-nominated artist Joëlle Jones (Lady Killer, Catwoman) combine forces for an extraordinary coming-of-age tale. Kara Danvers is super-strong. She can fly. She crash-landed on Earth in a rocket ship. But winning the next track meet, celebrating her 16th birthday, and surviving her latest mega-zit are her top concerns. And with the help of her best friends and her kinda-infuriating-but-totally-loving adoptive parents, she just might be able to put her troubling dreams—shattered glimpses of another world—behind her. That is, until an earthquake shatters her small town of Midvale…and uncovers secrets about her past she thought would always stay buried. The time has come for her to choose: Will she find a way to save her town and be super, or will she crash and burn?

And yet another collection!

There is now denying how beautiful Being Super is, filled with luscious Joelle Jones art. This Elseworlds take is pretty good with Kara discovering her powers and figuring things out. I remember thinking it was fine. One thing for sure, this has more action and drama than the more recent Supergirl offerings from Mariko Tamaki. I am also glad this is being resubmitted.

That is one busy month, just in time to spend our holiday gift money!
