SUPERGIRL #4
Written by SOPHIE CAMPBELL
Art and cover by SOPHIE CAMPBELL
Variant covers by STANLEY “ARTGERM” LAU and EJIKURE
1:25 variant cover by AMY REEDER
In the aftermath of escaped Kandorian Lesla-Lar’s rampage through town, Supergirl learns there’s more to Midvale than meets the eye when Lena drags her to a secret club she never knew existed. Midvale, like her alter ego, may seem mild-mannered, but there’s something special about it. Out from under Superman’s watchful eye, Kara is ready to let loose no matter the disastrous consequences!
Great to see Amy reeder back on covers, even if it is the expensive variant.
As for Midvale being something special, given Sophie Campbell's love of Supergirl history, perhaps she is rolling in a 'Leesburg is over a Hellmouth' feel to this incarnation.
Love the cover. As usual, a feast for a Supergirl fan. Decay from Daring New! Someone who clearly is Wanda Five from the 70s series. And Lena looks so goth she could be Nasty from All-Star Superman!
Can't wait to read!
SUPERMAN #29
Written by JOSHUA WILLIAMSON
Art and cover by DAN MORA
Variant covers by DAVID AJA, ARIEL OLIVETTI, and TULA LOTAY Artist Spotlight variant cover by BRUNO REDONDO
1:25 variant cover by EDDY BARROWS and EBER FERREIRA Summer of Superman variant cover by DAN MORA
Superman and an impossible ally search the future for the lost Legion of Super-Heroes! What happened to it, and can it help in the battle against Darkseid’s Absolute Legion?
Hmm ... an impossible ally? No hints on the variant covers. So let's start guessing. Is Mordru still in the present? Could it be Karate Kid?
We know that a Legion book is around the corner so glad Williamson is sowing some seeds here.
ACTION COMICS #1089
Written by MARK WAID
Art by SKYLAR PATRIDGE
Cover by RYAN SOOK
Variant covers by DIKE RUAN and DUSTIN NGUYEN
1:25 variant cover by SKYLAR PATRIDGE
Now that Superboy has made his Metropolis debut, a hero from the past re-emerges to take him down—one who sees him as a reckless hindrance to human progress and a threat to all! For the first time, the Boy of Steel faces off against an opponent with powers beyond his!
Knowing Mark Waid, I'm guessing it's Captain Comet. Even Grant Morrison loved the Captain.
I thought we might see some Smallville Superboy in this book but seems like we are diving into Metropolis time.
I've said it before, I think Patridge is a great pick for a Superboy book.
SUPERMAN UNLIMITED #4
Written by DAN SLOTT
Art and cover by RAFAEL ALBUQUERQUE
Variant covers by MARK SPEARS and HAYDEN SHERMAN
1:25 variant cover by RYAN BENJAMIN
1:50 variant cover by ROBBI RODRIGUEZ
It’s a big day for Jimmy Olsen as he sets up shop in the new Gotham City branch of the Daily Planet. His first assignment: learn what has turned Superman into an uncontrollable monster—and why. Do the combined forces of the heroes of Gotham even stand a chance against this version of the Man of Steel? And what is Bruce Wayne doing a continent away in Emerald City?
All this, and back in Smallville, Jon Kent begins training for the ultimate challenge— a way to combat the deadly effects of Kryptonite. Guest-starring: the Birds of Prey.
Perhaps the biggest thing in this solicit is Jon being back in the book with a subplot of his own. I guess the Kryptonite plot is still happening.
As for the cover and main plot, does anyone want to say Kirk Langstrom's serum?
ABSOLUTE SUPERMAN #10
Written by JASON AARON
Art and cover by RAFA SANDOVAL
Variant covers by GERALD PAREL AND GIUSEPPE CAMUNCOLI
1:25 variant cover by TIRSO
1:50 variant cover by GERALD PAREL
Superman’s true enemy stands revealed. The notorious Ra’s al Ghul, lord of Lazarus Corp, murderer of millions, has plans for the Last Son of Krypton. Will Kal-El’s rage unleash the dark power of Superman: Son of the Demon?
Ra's al Ghul is a murderer of millions. Perhaps he is a surviving member of the Science Council on Krypton and not Jor-El. (Please don't let it be Jor-El!)

I'd still like to think that even in this 'Darkseid Universe' that Superman is a rare gleam of hope and not a rage guy. We'll see.
At the very least, here in issue #10, it looks like we are coming to a head. Jason Aaron has been slowly revealing stuff. Glad to see Rafa Sandoval back.
BATMAN/SUPERMAN: WORLD’S FINEST #42
Written by MARK WAID
Art by ADRIÁN GUTIÉRREZ
Cover by DAN MORA
Variant covers by MICHAEL CHO and ADRIÁN GUTIÉRREZ
1:25 variant cover by MARIO FOCCILLO
“Escape from Bizarro World” continues! Superman, Batman, and Robin—tracing a mysterious plague that is sweeping the planet—have found Patient Zero! The only cure for the Bizarros is to eradicate him—so how will the World’s Finest Trio save an entire race without murdering a sentient being?
Is this a plague on Bizarro's World? And a patient zero? Who could be causing it? I keep trying to think of someone who can cause 'normalcy'.
I have liked Adrian Gutierrez art on the book so seeing him cut loose on Bizarro World should be fun!
NEW HISTORY OF THE DC UNIVERSE #3
Written by MARK WAID
Art by DOUG MAHNKE and DAN JURGENS
Cover by CHRIS SAMNEE
Variant covers by DAN MORA and FRANK QUITELY
1:25 variant cover by KARL KERSCHL
Foil variant cover by RYAN SOOK
Legacy variant cover by SCOTT KOBLISH
Following the cataclysmic events of Crisis on Infinite Earths, the DC Universe is forever changed. Torches are passed as legacy heroes like Wally West embrace the mantles of their predecessors, heroes like Hal Jordan are tempted by darkness, and the Justice League faces formidable new threats such as Doomsday, Black Hand, and Superboy-Prime. Narrator Barry Allen recaps these events through his return, ending with the cataclysmic Flashpoint!
I'm really excited for this series and see us go through the 90s - the kids taking over the legacy names, the death of Superman, even Infinite Crisis!

Of course, Flashpoint brought about the New 52. Will that era simply be skipped? Is that just excised from the actual History?
KRYPTO: THE LAST DOG OF KRYPTON #3
Written by RYAN NORTH
Art by MIKE NORTON
Cover by JAE LEE
Variant cover by NIKO HENRICHON
Krypto, the last dog of Krypton, has seen some of the worst of what Earth can offer—and escaped it with his life. And yet, he still hasn’t given up hope. Alone, Krypto wanders through a forest in the depths of winter, until one day, he encounters a young girl who is also lost. At least they can be lost together. But humans aren’t as equipped to survive in the wilderness as dogs are, and there will come a point when this girl can walk no more…and a strange visitor from another world will be her only hope.
Sounds like a heartwarming story although you think Krypto would be able to save this girl immediately.

Foil variant cover by WES CRAIG
1:25 variant cover by ALEX ECKMAN-LAWN
The team behind the critically acclaimed Ice Cream Man comic comes to DC to apply its singular storytelling style to none other than the Man of Steel! Four new Kryptonites have been discovered in deep space, and Superman needs to know just what, exactly, they do to him—lest the colorful rocks of his home planet fall into evil hands! With Batman at Superman’s side, this DC Black Label Superman event explores the consequences of each never- before-seen variety of Kryptonite—all in the formal and boundary-pushing fashion that W. I have never heard of Ice Cream Man or these creators.

So help me out! Should I get this book? Sounds interesting from a plot view but I'll just need to know the tone more than anything.
JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED #10
Written by MARK WAID
Art and cover by DAN MORA
Variant covers by NATHAN SZERDY, RACHTA LIN, and SARAH BASLAIM Artist Spotlight variant cover by BRUNO REDONDO
1:25 variant cover by MATTHEW CLARK
The Quantum Quorum of time-traveler refugees has issued its warning to the Justice League: Apokolips is coming. But just as Jor-El’s cries fell on the deaf ears of Krypton, will the people of Earth be prepared to take drastic steps to save their world? It all comes to a head as the chaos continues, and one Leaguer is put to the ultimate test!
I have been impressed with how Waid has handled this book, swapping in characters while keeping a core group. Wonder what Apokolips is all about given how New Gods is going on.

Have to say, Supergirl is on two covers, the one I am showing and one of her with Yara Flor and Cass Cain. Hoping that means she is in the book but who knows.

Superman and Lex Luthor form an uneasy alliance to combat the Hollow Earth’s monstrous Great Apes. But for Superman, the real challenge isn’t just the towering Titans—it’s his waning powers and Luthor’s ever-present treachery.
Meanwhile, Wonder Woman and Batman wage their own battles against the Suicide Squad, edging closer to uncovering Task Force X’s true plan for the creatures of G-Day Earth.
And just when things seem insurmountable, Godzilla returns—this time, he’s on his home turf. He’s not just looking for a fight; he’s here to defend his realm as King of the Monsters!
Loved the first series. Given the first, wondering why Superman would trust Lex at all. And why is he losing his powers? And what are the chances a bath in Godzilla's atomic breath re-energizes our hero.

Interesting to see Suicide Squad being a sort of gray team. Does this mean we'll see more of Amanda Waller?
DC FINEST: SUPERGIRL: BODY And SOUL
Written by PETER DAVID
Art by GARY FRANK, LEONARD KIRK, CAM SMITH, and others
Cover by GARY FRANK and CAM SMITH
DC Finest: Supergirl: Body And Soul marks the beginning of acclaimed writer Peter David’s (The Incredible Hulk, Aquaman) astonishing reinvention of Supergirl with artists Gary Frank and Cam Smith, featuring stories published between September 1996 and February 1998. This volume collects tales from Showcase ’96 #8, Supergirl #1-18, Supergirl Annual #1-2, and Supergirl Plus #1.
I honestly loved the PAD Supergirl book, especially the first 50 issues. It is a solid series. It is clear David loved the classic Supergirl and so infused some of that into this Linda Danvers. And love it includes Showcase '96 #8, the prologue.

Now I try to support Supergirl in all forms.
But I didn't get Superman Woman of Tomorrow in trade. I was not supporting that.
And I cannot, with a clear conscience, buy this trade of Mariko Tamaki's soporific non-Supergirl story.
But if you liked this story, I am happy for you that it will be put out in trade.
Busy month!

Thanks for the run-through. I went back and looked at that Nightwing cover and solicitationand I’ll be buying this, even if it does sound like Nightwing is dreaming of Kandor.
I’m very curious as to what secret Midvale is, but if it involves these weird gals, great.
Forgot to say, I’ll pass on the Peter David DC Finest, as already have it in trades. What a sad loss this week, I hope PAD realised how much so many of us loved his Supergirl work.
So the Absolute Legion, whole torturing Time Trapper Doomsday, indicated that 'this Superman is more compassionate than ours'. Curious to see how that comment might play out.
That has to be Wanda Five...unless she is Lana Lang's Secret Love Child or something. So far I'm all-in. but as for The Late Peter David "Peace to His Ashes, Succor to His Loved Ones, May His Memory Be a Blessing". JF
Ice cream man is one of the best comics currently being printed.
