Sterling Gates On The Supergirl Show Set

Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus!

When the Supergirl television show was first announced, a number of fans (myself included) hoped that Sterling Gates would be tapped to join the writing staff. After all, there were elements of the show that seemed to riff off of Gates' hallowed run with the character (along with superstar artist Jamal Igle).

And then when Gates wrote the Adventures of Supergirl digital comic based on the television show, another outcry came up from fandom. Gates seemed to have such a great handle of the characters ... not only this Supergirl but also Winn, Alex, and the rest of the cast. Why wasn't he on the show's writing staff?

And then, last week, Gates posted this pic on Twitter. That is clearly a chair with a headset and his name adorned with a Supergirl Season Two banner. He has to be on set.

Now the picture was posted without text, so I don't know what he was doing there. But I have to assume he was there as one of the script writers.

And if that is true, it couldn't happen to a nicer and better creator. Gates work with the character is appropriately lauded. He deserves to be there.

As for me, I have always wanted my name on a director's chair, implying I have some important position. Maybe one day.

+1000000 on that! Thanks for sharing Anj! Can only hope that it is 100% true! It'd make
for on heckuva Christmas / New Years gift!

Kudos again to Gates/Igle for their work on Supergirl again!

Great news. Gates definitely deserves this. He treated the Maid of Might as she deserves, he really loves the character and is one of the best Supergirl scribes together with Peter David, Paul Kupperberg, Tony Bedard, Mark Waid, Jack C. Harris, Jerry Siegel...

Gates' tweet was definitely an intriguing tease, since he didn't provide any context to the pic. So hopefully there will be more immediate information when production on the show resumes next month, or perhaps during the TCA Press Tour (The CW is tentatively scheduled to give their mid-season presentation on January 8th).

BTW, Comixology just named Gates' Adventures of Supergirl tie-in series one of "DC Comics' Best of 2016".

Brilliant stuff, Sterling would be a splendid addition to the show. Obviously, the TV folk read this blog!

This is great news no matter the capacity Gates is in. But a named chair makes me think it is of some import.

So let's keep our eyes on the credits moving forward!
