Red Lantern Supergirl Arrives - Mike Maihack Style

I have sung the praises of Mike Maihack and his Batgirl/Supergirl comics since I first ran across them. I have always been impressed with how he can easily convey the correct and classic characterization of the two heroes in such quick one page stories.

So I greatly appreciated his take on the Supergirl Red Lantern story, seen on his blog:

The Red Lantern arc is such the antithesis of what a classic Supergirl represented that it deserves to be ridiculed a bit.

So here Kara isn't filled with Rage ... she just wanted a new outfit.

The only thing I love more than the ludicrous faux-rage screaming in the middle row is the blank look on her face when she knows she has been busted by Batgirl. Holding the expression, tongue out, fists clenched, but all show ... this whole comic is great.

Even adding the black bar behind the middle row to add a feel of 'malevolence' is a nice trick.

Thanks to Mr. Maihack for continuing to just continue providing these comics to Supergirl fans hungry for a bright young hero!

Best Red Lantern Supergirl ever.

I was getting my morning coffee and thinking about how dumb this whole Supergirl-is-a-Red-Lantern arc is.

Thanks for sharing this.

I love Mike Maihack's Batgirl/Supergirl comics. Just a few panels, yet a complete story and well defined characters. A real study in economy of story telling.
