I was somewhat disappointed when I read on the DC blog that Eddy Barrows is leaving Action Comics and that Julian Lopez is taking over. Here is the link:

I hope that Barrows finds more work in the DCU. Hopefully the reason he is off the book is because he has another project within the DCU. But what could supercede Action Comics? Could it be that he was having a hard time making deadlines?
The thing is his stuff in Action was spectacular. I will miss it.
Julain Lopez has been named as the new regular penciller. A sketch he did of Nightwing and Flamebird is seen above and looks pretty solid.

Lopez seems to be splitting pages on Oracle:The Cure with Fernando Pasarin. He also pencilled Superman #676. I include a half-splash of Superman.
And given the amount of fighting we have seen in Action Comics, I figured I would include an example of a more dynamic scene from the same comic. Here Superman and Alan Scott are battling Solomon Grundy.
His art in that issue was pretty straight-forward. The sketch above seems more solid.
Hopefully Barrows finds his way back to one of the super-titles in the future.

My sincerest congrats to Julian Lopez upon landing this gig now that sadly Eddy Barrows is leaving.

Beam77 said...There is a preview of Supergirl #41 over at Newsarama. His right Anj (sincere thanks for the heads up Beam77 :)), and it's unfortunately only a mere 3 page sneak peek at that. The art is beautiful but not too sure what to make of the writing/plot going on itself though. :/
P.S. unfortunately Supergirl #41 isn't due out till next week.
I loved his work on Batman and the Outsiders. Check them out on his blog

Barrows wasn't my cup of tea but I wish him all the best.

Thanks for the post and link.
His Batman stuff is a notch above the Superman issue I have. I am more optimistic now.
I have added his blog to my link section. Thanks again.
That Nightwing and Flamebird sketch is gorgeous! If his stuff is always as good as that I'm very happy for the change - not that Barrows is bad, I just like seeing new artists.
yes, eddy barrows was very good (kind of keeping an art style on the book), and i'm sad to see him move on, but (thanks for the blogsite link, kwaku) i don't think i'll mind lopez coming onboard...

The sketch does seem pretty polished. And the stuff on his blog is also slick.
I look forward to seeing how he handles Action.
