Happy Christmas Eve !

Thanks to everyone on the blog who told me about this picture, showcased on the DC Comics homepage.

What a nice sentiment, Supergirl and Batgirl are exchanging gifts ... each other's arch-enemy. Or more to the point, Superman and Batman's arch enemies Lex Luthor and The Joker. Both innocently ask 'what did you get me?' It's just a fun little picture for the holidays.

It's a great holiday picture by Matt Haley (I think) who drew the excellent Elseworld's Finest:Supergirl and Batgirl comic back in 1998.

Of course, this appears to be the Barbara Gordon Batgirl outfit. And that is the Matrix/Linda Supergirl outfit, my personal favorite. So I doubt we can pigeon hole this into any prior continuity. Does this have any bearing on the immediate future of the characters? Who knows? But hey, it's the magic of the season for us to see a picture like this!

So Happy Holidays to everyone again!

It sure is cute ah! :D As per the artist who did it in question, Matt Haley? Really? Man how I truly loved that Elseworld's Finest: Supergirl and Batgirl one off he did! :D

Heh, mine too! (Except come Supergirl her being given the red colored dress belt loops and the red "M" design top half of the boots not being colored yellow instead)

So I doubt we can pigeon hole this into any prior continuity.

Actually, you might be surprised, for in accordance to 52 come that "official history of the Post-IC DCU" back up with Donna Troy they still claim Matrix/Linda as once being Supergirl and in that EXACT Supersuit as well as Bab's once being Batgirl and dressing as pictured there too. So who knows, maybe this IS indeed an official flashback come "New Earth" continuity regarding these 2 actually having paired up once upon a time. ;)

Does this have any bearing on the immediate future of the characters? Who knows?

Well all due respect Anj apparently DiDio does. He not to long ago just about came right out and said that Bab's will be yet again donning her Batgirl costume in 09 AFTER her Oracle mini title completes. So who's also to say that Supergirl won't be getting the EXACT costume that both you an I love so very much come 09 in turn too eh? ;)

But hey, it's the magic of the season for us to see a picture like this!

That it indeed is!

So Happy Holidays to everyone again!

Yes! And here's sincerely wishing all the very same to you and your clan! :D

Methinks DC has given me a good Christmas present; if you've stopped picking up Reign in Hell, you should go out and buy issue #6. Linda Danvers appears in the Dr. Occult side story at the end of the issue, and, though her looks are perplexing and her dialogue is a bit repetitive, it appears she's joined the good doctor's band, and so will be making further appearances. What is interesting here is that, even though in current continuity Kara is supposed to be the only hero to have ever held the name Supergirl (right?), Danvers is recognized by Dr. Occult as the Girl of Steel.

I know I, personally, would love your input on this, if not a full review. ;)

Well, it's about midnight here, so Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

kara has admitted to worrying about whether or not the public will accept her as supergirl because others have gone by that name in the past, so i think there are nods to linda and matrix having been supergirl before kara..
