Somehow Marvel got the luck of having the Supergirl story in the lot. And I was thrilled when I heard the team-up was going to be with Ghost Spider. As a huge Gwen Stacy fan, this seemed like a 'chocolate and peanut butter' moment, the perfect combo. Add in Phil Noto, a long time favorite of mine and I was really excited.
The writer of 'Remarkable' was Stephanie Phillips who I feel is a sort of hit-or-miss writer for me. I have enjoyed some of her work, the early issues of her Harley Quinn run and the current She-Hulk book for example. But this story's premise that Kara and Gwen would be sort of catty towards each other, acting like mean girls, seemed a little bit off. I do feel that maybe the story sticks the landing but given it is unlikely that these characters will ever meet again, it seemed like a wasted opportunity to see a true team-up.
Kudos to Peach Momoko for this slick cover. Love the pastel covers and the smiling Kara standing tall!
I do like that Superman is really held in high high regard in all these stories from both companies as an inspiration and ideal hero, even for the young heroes. I mean, Gwen wants his autograph.
Gwen was thrilled until it turns out to be Supergirl.
And Supergirl was flying to the Planet in hopes of meeting a 'cool' member of the Spider-family.
There is immediate friction between the two as the start to belittle each other.
I don't know if this is how either character would respond to the other right off the bat.
But then it becomes a race about who is going to deal with the problem, showing they are a true hero and better than this knock-off member of a bigger family.
Again, I don't know if this is how these characters typically act.
I will say that I love Phil Noto's art and I love his take on Supergirl. Noto shines here. And his Ghost Spider is pretty cool too.
Ultimately, Supergirl sort of stands on the sidelines as Ghost Spider shows she knows how use her powers to their maximum efficacy, taking out Livewire basically single-handedly.
But I love how incredulous Supergirl is. Kara could take out Livewire without blinking. Why is Gwen shooting webs?
In the end, I think both have realized that maybe they are more alike than different. After all, both always seem to need to prove their worth in general. As a sort of last razz but maybe an olive branch, Supergirl autographs Gwen's book.
Perhaps they could be friends.
So this is a 5 pager. It ends with the possibility of a friendship for two characters that might never meet again.
As a big fan of both characters, I was craving a true team-up. Make them be friends and fight Electro and Atomic Skull!
All that said, pretty fun to see them interact.

What did you all think?

Like most back-ups from form New crossovers it make me want a proper crossover between the characters and not small back-up
