DC Comics April 2026 Solicits

The DC Solicits for April 2026 have come out and if you think Supergirl has been getting some love from the company in preparation of the upcoming movie, you ain't seen nothing yet. Here is a link to see all the solicits: https://aiptcomics.com/2026/01/23/full-april-2026-dc-comics-solicitations/

This is a hefty month for Super-books and if you like to trade wait or get omnibus editions, you better start saving your pennies. I am thrilled that Supergirl is getting such a push from the company and I am certain it is because of the film. I can only hope that a new treasury will happen closer to the release date. Hoping the film shows her as the hero I think she is.

On to the books!

SUPERGIRL #11
Written by Sophie Campbell
Drawn by Sophie Campbell
Covers by Nick Dragotta, Joshua "Sway" Swaby, Sophie Campbell, Pablo Villalobos

The conflict in Kandor between the Science Council and the younger Kandorians is only growing more tense. Supergirl's first run-in with the rebel leader Black Flame ends with her broken and without her powers, forcing her to seek recovery with the Science Council. But despite Supergirl's warning, the Council has their own plan to stop Black Flame: a powerful clone capable of taking down anyone in their path. Enter Team Thunder!

Back in my Supergirl #9 review, I wondered if the Science Council did something to keep the Kryptonian kids shrunk in the bottle. This solicit makes it seem like this time I am right. A revolt from the young Kandorians against the government? Makes sense.

But check out that cover. I recently reviewed an old story where Supergirl lost her powers and needed a Kandorian exo-skeleton. Looks like Sophie Campbell is riffing on that here ... but she looks more Cyborg Superman than donning a sleek model.

And what about that powerful clone? Who could that be?

Couunt me in.
SUPERGIRL: THE WORLD
Written by MARIKO TAMAKI, ANEKE, MARIE SANN, MAHMUD ASRAR, KID TOUSSAINT, FERNANDA CIELLA, MARIANA MORENO, FRANCESCA MICHIELIN, TOMAS WORTLEY, DR. EJOB GAIUS, ANNA KRZTOŃ, JOHANNA SINSALO, UROŠ DIMITRIJEVIĆ, and SATOSHI MIYAGAWA
Art by ANEKE, MARIE SANN, MAHMUD ASRAR, JOEL JURION, FERNANDA CIELLA, MARIANA MORENO, FREDERICA CROCI, ROCIO ZUCCHI, KASIA NIE, ROSI KAMPE, STEVAN SUBIĆ, KAI KITAGO
Cover by JOELLE JONES

Supergirl, the last daughter of Krypton, has found her adoptive world daunting at times, struggling to find her place in it. So what better way to learn about her new home than travel the globe and discover its many wonders and save some lives in the process of course! Behold the maiden of might witness the wonders of Earth as 15 countries tell tales that highlight what makes Supergirl one of the most inspiring and powerful superheroes of all!

There have been a few of these 'World' issues where international creative teams take a look at a DC hero. I never, in my wildest dreams, imagined Supergirl would get one but here we are! A few things.

I recognize some of the names. I don't know if I need another Mariko Tamaki Supergirl snoozer. Why not bring back a different Supergirl veteran like Sterling Gates or Tony Bedard or K. Perkins?

I do find it interesting that Supergirl is described as one of the most inspiring heroes of all and contrasting that to the drunk, sad persona we are seeing in commercials and lauded in the WoT book.

Still, can't wait for this book!
SUPERMAN #37
Written by Joshua Williamson
Drawn by Dan Mora
Covers by Dan Mora, Cary Nord, Rachta Lin, and Nick Robles

Superboy Prime gets a new real-life job with a new secret identity while he protects Metropolis from dangerous threats! But there is a whole DC Comics universe out there for him to explore, and the fanboy in him wants to see it all…Too bad there are heroes who don't trust him and think he should be locked up.

Crazy as it sounds, I am eager to read this SB Prime run because I think somehow Williamson has made him readable and entertaining.

And how great to see Dan Mora back on the book. I wonder if that has been done to keep readers who might drop off in the new focus on Prime.
ACTION COMICS #1097
Written by Mark Waid
Drawn by Skylar Partridge
Cover by Ryan Sook

The heroes of tomorrow have arrived in the past, and they need Superboy's help! But what can a young Clark Kent do that they can't? Find out as Smallville is turned upside down and the Reign of the Superboys continues!

Chances these heroes are not who they say they are? 100% ! You heard it here first. But it will be interesting to see how Waid shows Superboy learning of his destiny.

Great cover and glad Waid/Patridge back together!
SUPERMAN UNLIMITED #12
Written by DAN SLOTT
Art by LUCAS MEYER
Covers by TAURIN CLARKE, KAREN DARBOE, GUILLEM MARCH, SALVADOR LARROCA

Little (super) boy lost! Tomorrow Man has a shocking surprise for Lois Lane. His name is Jon Kent, and he's just a little boy. The Reign of the Superboys continues! (And, possibly… the reign of a super… monkey?)

How incredible it would be to have DC recognize the mistake they made by aging Jon and instead de-age him. But given this is happening in Superman Unlimited, I doubt this is real or lasting.

More's the pity.

BATMAN/SUPERMAN: WORLD’S FINEST #50
OVERSIZE ANNIVERSARY ISSUE!
Written by MARK WAID
Art by DAN MORA and ADRIAN GUTIERREZ
Cover by DAN MORA
Variant covers by FRANK QUITELY, MARK SPEARS, ROD REIS, RAFAEL GRASSETTI, and ADRIAN GUTIERREZ
Weird Al Yankovic Cameo variant cover by DAN MORA
Things to Come variant cover by VASCO GEORGIEV
1:25 variant cover by SALVADOR LARROCA

This issue features an adventure so big, not only are Robin, Supergirl, Jimmy Olsen, Batgirl, and the rest of the Super-Bat Family joining in but Dan Mora makes his return to the series he helped launch!

We don't get a lot of information about what is happening in the issue but I have faith. This book has sung for 4 years.

But drink in the cover by Dan Mora. First off, it showcases all the arcs in the book so far. And in particular, how great is that Supergirl in the center! Amazing!
ABSOLUTE SUPERMAN #18
Written by JASON AARON
Art and cover by RAFA SANDOVAL
Variant covers by GERALD PAREL, BEN OLIVER, and CHRIS BURNHAM

“Reign of the Superman” kicks off here with the debut of not one but two Absolute Universe reinventions! The Battle of Kansas may have put the Lazarus Corporation into retreat, but it’s left behind some terrifying surprises in its hidden caches of weapons and world-ending secrets. The most dangerous of all? The sarcophagus of the legendary King Shazam! Don’t miss the start of a new epic that will change the hierarchy of power in the Absolute Universe!

With the Absolute Universe now a year and a half old, it is time to explore the corners outside the Trinity. We saw Green Arrow and Hawkman and Zatanna in other books, so why not Shazam!

It will be interesting to see how coordinated these books are in explaining the history of this world and why there is this explosion of super-humans now as opposed to before.

So glad Rafa Sandoval is back. I love his work!
ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN: BOOK OF EL #8
Written by PHILLIP KENNEDY JOHNSON
Art and cover by SCOTT GODLEWSKI
Variant covers by LUCIO PARRILLO and ARIEL COLON

Superman will always help someone in need, but since he was thrown into the future, his first priority has been to rescue Otho and Osul-Ra. The Valkyries of Phaelosia have offered him a chance to reunite with his daughter, but will that give him time to save his son? What sacrifices are necessary to prevent Kryl-Ux from rewriting reality? And Ronan Kent’s reliance on Brainiac finally comes to light!

I have been liking, not loving, this book as it seems to be diving into a mythology I don't quite understand. Glad to see the word Phaelosia in there. Glad to see the twins named.
BIZARRO: YEAR NONE #1
Written by KEVIN SMITH and ERIC CARRASCO
Art and cover by NICK PITARRA
Variant covers by FRANK QUITELY, FERNANDO PASARIN, and IBRAHIM MOUSTAFA
Foil variant cover by NICK PITARRA

This am how Bizarro got finished! Kevin Smith and Eric Carrasco team up with visionary artist Nick Pitarra to tell the definitive, indefinitive origin of the beloved backward bad boy! When Superman’s pal Jimmy Olsen and Clark Kent’s boss Perry White leave the Planet for a strange adventure in outer space, they discover a dimension that mimics Metropolis and reveres its legendary newspaper as an article of faith! But is the being behind it all a Superman fan, a creature of chaos, or is he no one at all? Don’t be a square: buy Bizarro: Year None!

This one comes out of left field. I wonder if the plan is to have some sort of tangent mini-series for the main heroes always out there, similar to the Kryptonite Spectrum mini.

My love of Kevin Smith has sort of dwindled over time. But Eric Carrasco was one of the writers on the Supergirl show and I definitely enjoyed the episodes he wrote. Nick Pitarra is a perfect fit for a Bizarro story.

But why this and why now? I'll probably sample.

And then ... the collections!
SUPERGIRL: THE SILVER AGE OMNIBUS VOL. 1 (2026 EDITION)
Written by JERRY SIEGEL, OTTO BINDER, and LEO DORFMAN
Art by JIM MOONEY and AL PLASTINO
Cover by DARWYN COOKE

Supergirl: The Silver Age Omnibus Vol. 1 collects Supergirl backup stories from Action Comics #252-307, from such talented writers and artists as Jerry Siegel, Jim Mooney, Otto Binder, and Leo Dorfman.

A new release of the Silver Age Omnibus.

This one is chock-a-block with fun stories including some main Supergirl mythos issues from origin, to reveal to the world, to Lesla Lar. Worth it!
DC FINEST: SUPERGIRL: DIE AND LET LIVE
Written by PETER DAVID
Art by LEONARD KIRK, ROBIN RIGGS, and others
Cover by LEONARD KIRK and ROBIN RIGGS

Featuring stories filled with action, heart, and humor as only Peter David could deliver, DC Finest: Supergirl: Die and Let Live collects Supergirl #19-35 and #1,000,000, Resurrection Man #16-17, Team Superman Secret Files and Origins #1, Team Superman #1, Supergirl/Prysm Double-Shot #1, and a story from Adventure Comics 80-Page Giant #1.

I am so glad the Peter David Matrix Supergirl is getting some love because it was brilliant. I loved the book and so glad it is being collected in this new format. What I really love here is the inclusion of all the ephemera - Double Shots, 80 Page Giants, Secret Files and Resurrection Man, etc.

If you haven't read this series, you should!

SUPERGIRL: THE NEW 52 OMNIBUS VOL. 2
Written by TONY BEDARD, MICHAEL ALAN NELSON, CHARLES SOULE, and others
Art by YILDIRAY CINAR, EMANUELA LUPACCHINO, DIOGENES NEVES, and others
Cover by MAHMUD ASRAR and DANIEL BROWN

From the nightmarish return of Krypton to the machinations of Cyborg-Superman, Kara is thrust from one battle to another until a fight with Lobo sends her over the edge…an edge filled with rage. Will the flame be pulled from her heart or consume her forever? And what is this deep-space school called the Crucible all about? Collects Action Comics #23.1, Action Comics Annual #2, Batman/ Superman #16-20, Green Lantern #28, Red Lanterns #28-34, Red Lanterns Annual #1, Superboy #25, Supergirl #21-40, Supergirl: Futures End #1, Superman #25, and a story from Secret Origins #1!

I never thought the New 52 Supergirl would merit an Omnibus, let alone 2 volumes! Insanity! But the movie means a new focus so why not drop it all into bookstores.

Those Michael Alan Nelson issues are ROOOOOOUUUUGGHH!
But then you get the Red Daughter arc which redeemed the character. You get the Tony Bedard issues which show a love of the character. And it includes the delightful ending arc written by K. Perkins.

This is a pretty good run all told so if you haven't read it and want it all in one place, this might be for you!

So that is a lot of books and a lot of Supergirl books! Happy April!
