DC Comics October 2020 Solicits

The DC Comics solicits for October have come out and I can't help but wonder just what 2021 has in store for fans. Here is a link:
https://www.gamesradar.com/dc-october-2020-solicitations-and-covers-revealed/

There is a ton ... A TON ... of Death Metal stuff.
There is a ton ... A TON ... of Joker.
Not surprising, there is a ton of Batman.

And there are cancellations! Batgirl, Justice League Odyssey, and Red Hood.

My guess is that with so many books going away and with all this Death Metal stuff, we are on the verge of yet another reboot. Rao, help me.

But here are the super-books, including the variant cover for Action Comics #1026 as seen above.

ACTION COMICS #1026
written by BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS
art and cover by JOHN ROMITA JR. and KLAUS JANSON
variant cover by LUCIO PARRILLO
Wonder Woman 1984 variant cover by FRANK CHO

This issue, it's the Superman family versus everybody! In this blistering conclusion to the epic "House of Kent" saga, huge choices are made to defend the great city of Metropolis. Plus, amid all the chaos, the new owner of the Daily Planet is revealed—and it's...Jimmy Olsen?! Guest-starring Jonathan Kent, Conner Kent, Supergirl, and the Legion of Super-Heroes.

I can't help but be happy that Supergirl is part of this arc. And I trust Bendis to treat her the way she deserves to be treated.

Kara as drawn by JRJR? I am ready to shudder.

SUPERMAN #26
written by BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS
art by IVAN REIS and DANNY MIKI
cover by IVAN REIS and JOE PRADO
variant cover by TONY S. DANIEL
Wonder Woman 1984 variant cover by GABRIELE DELL'OTTO

As Superman deals with the continuing fallout from the world knowing his truth as Clark Kent, he finds himself faced with a physical threat beyond anything he has ever faced before. Synmar traveled across the universe to destroy the Man of Steel. How can Superman contain the havoc this new foe will cause so that everything he has sworn to protect doesn't collapse with him?

Between Mongul, Synmar, Rogol Zaar, etc ... I wonder where are the regular Superman rogues.

Still, Ivan Reis drawing a huge brawl? That is a draw.

BATMAN/SUPERMAN #13
written by JOSHUA WILLIAMSON
art by MAX RAYNOR
cover by DAVID MARQUEZ
card stock variant cover by MARK BROOKS
Wonder Woman 1984 variant cover by JENNY FRISON

What happens when the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel wake up on a skull-shaped planetoid packed full of cybernetic versions of their entire rogues galleries? Figure out why they're being worshipped like gods, that's what! What is this strange new Brainiac's endgame—and how did Batman and Superman's own villain database mutate into this twisted, metallic death planet? The mystery deepens as our heroes' allies desperately search for their missing comrades...

Hmmm ...
This sounds a little like a Danger Room style arc and it could be fun to see the World's Finest unleash there total powers agains some robots.

LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #10
written by BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS
art by RYAN SOOK and WADE VON GRAWBADGER
cover by RYAN SOOK
variant cover by DARKO LAFUENTE

A grudge that has endured 1,000 years! The unstoppable behemoth Rogol Zaar has survived the millennium to haunt Jonathan Kent where he least expected it! It's a menace so terrible the Legion of Super-Heroes may not survive. Was this the challenge Brainiac 5 predicted? Is the Legion up to the task? Plus, who is dating whom in the 31st century? Another searing chapter in the far-flung future of the DC Universe, courtesy of Bendis, Sook, and von Grawbadger!

I guess if you mention Rogol Zaar in the Superman discussion, he appears in Legion.

While I look forward to seeing the Legion fighting a brute like Zaar, I think we all will be there for the dating!

YOUNG JUSTICE #19
written by BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS and DAVID F. WALKER
art by SCOTT GODLEWSKI
cover by JOHN TIMMS
variant cover by DARKO LaFUENTE

Wonder Girl calls Young Justice together to help her with a family problem. Seems the pantheon of Greek gods is having a hard time with some of Cassie's choices. She's taking a stand to change rules as old as the heavens! And she is going to need her team by her side to do it.

A Wonder Girl one-shot looking at her origin! I like this arc in Young Justice with each of the sort of missing heroes each getting a semi-solo issue and spotlight.

Definitely looking forward to this.

SUPERGIRL VOL. 3: INFECTIOUS TP
written by JODY HOUSER and MARC ANDREYKO
art by RACHAEL STOTT, EDUARDO PANSICA, and others
cover by DAN MORA

Supergirl…the Infected! In protecting Superman, Supergirl becomes infected by a virus created by the Batman Who Laughs, turning her into the twisted Dark Multiverse version of herself. Batman and Superman enlist the help of Wonder Woman to bring Kara back peacefully, but is it too late to save her? And if Supergirl is able to return to her old self, can she hope to redeem herself after putting Smallville in danger? Collects Supergirl #34-42, Supergirl Annual #2, and a story from Superman: Leviathan Rising Special #1.

For those who didn't get the digital versions of Supergirl #41 and Supergirl #42, here is your print version. But what a way to end a trade run. This isn't Supergirl.

But here we are.

Will I still have the same passion for these characters if we reboot again?

I think if Death Metal does lead to a reboot, it will be more of a 'soft' reboot. They have been pushing the 'everything matters, everything happened' bit as an underlying theme, so I believe a reboot wouldn't be a 'starting from scratch' in this case.

I'm usually not fond of Lucio Parrillo's variant covers, but this one with Supergirl is good.

Red Hood isn't cancelled - you must mean Batman and the Outsiders. (Which is not really a Batman book - those don't get cancelled.)

That Supergirl TPB is unfortunately a super-sized one. Instead of putting out 2 final trades for $16.99 each, DC has lumped the final 9 issues plus an annual into a larger TPB for $24.99. Monthly collectors who want just the final two issues in print have to buy 8 issues a second time. Unbelievable.

So far, 7 Death Metal one-shots have been announced:

2 in August
3 in September (but the main title skips this month)
2 in October

And a 5-issue arc of Justice League is a Death Metal tie-in starting in September. So that's two issues in October.

That may not even be the end of it.

" DC has lumped the final 9 issues plus an annual into a larger TPB for $24.99. "

What else can we expect after all? DC Comics Hates Supergirl, and Hates Supergirl's Fans...that being said they are not above squeezing them for a few more dollars like the cheap @ss jobbers they are...

With another reboot possibly in the cards, this is probably as good a time as any to cut the barbed wire and escape the prison camp where DC keeps it's fans.

Sorry everyone its all turning to hatred...I'm not even gonna lie.

That variant cover is gorgeous, love the prominence given to Kara, but is it me, or does it seem like it's a 10 year old Jon head on a much older body?

Love the alt cover.
Hate joker-infecting-batman-who-death-metal-laughs
Hate Batgirl 47
Hate the cancellations
The infected trade will be the only Supergirl trade I don't own.
Love that we may get some kind of reboot after the shitstorm-who-laughs. But really I don't think that DC will change, so I expect nothing. The only book worth reading at the moment is Amethyst but that is ending too. Soon my pull list is empty.

I've hated this Metal/Perpetua/Joker War stuff since it started. Can't we go back to the Rebirth era?

I'm absolutely loving LEGION of SUPER HEROES...this sounds awesome!
As does SUPERMAN, I do like seeing some new villians ~XANADOTH is great!
Would be nice to see
The likes of AMALAK, TERRA MAN & TOYMAN tho!

"does it seem like it's a 10 year old Jon head on a much older body?"

The problem is probably the exaggerated physique, which doesn't look right for Jon's age. Jon even looks like an action figure here!

And Clark's head seems too small for his body.

I'm glad we don't see more of his interpretations of Kara or Conner. They look good just as they are.

That Action Comics solicitation makes it sound as if Bleeding Cool is right that we’re going to get the Bottle City of Metropolis... I do hope not.

Hello from a french fan of supergirl,

Supergirl made an appearance in the chapter 12 of superman man of tomorrow.I'm glad the writers made him appear as the first superhero that helps metropolis when superman isn't around. Superman replaced Atlas in this chapter.

Definitely another reboot coming and they can eat it on that trade. I got the digitals to finish up the series I dont need that utter garbage in print. DC honestly feels like it's just going to stop. If it doesn't I think it might for me. The New 52 and destruction of everything Rebirth stood for is actually making me start to dislike the characters and I'm not going to let that happen. I just live in back issue heaven where there at least tends to be more good than bad.
