DC Nation #2 came out last week and I continue to be enthralled with this free magazine. Yes, it is free advertising for DC Comics. But there is enough solid material to make it feel more like just a commercial. There are interviews, behind the scenes process pieces, and creator profiles. For a comic geek like me, this is nirvana. You can't beat that price point either!
Now I'll remind you that this issue was originally solicited with a Supergirl headline. No such luck now. Maybe DC felt it was better to hold onto that article until we were closer to the actual release of the Supergirl book.
I can only hope she merits her own article.
But there was some Supergirl (and Superman) stuff in the magazine.
So as someone who has wailed and gnashed my teeth against the 'Dark Supergirl' theme, I have to say I don't know if I like the 'Wanted:Dead or Alive' banner over Kara. Even the 'not recognized as a hero and sort of a criminal' vibe for Supergirl irks me. So I don't exactly know how to feel about an axe-wielding Supergirl being viewed as a criminal by the universe's police force.
Hopefully, this all turns out well.
There is a Direct Currents section with actual solicits including this one for the second issue in the new direction. Maybe her interaction with the GL Corps is limited to the first couple of issues? Of course, Zaar did have a lot of discussion with Guardian Appa Ali Apsa. So maybe that is her first 'lead'?
There is a great article about Viktor Bogdanovic and his growth as an artist.
I have loved his work on New Super-Man and Superman so it was great to read more about him.
The article mentions his time on the General Zod arc and the Oz Effect arc on Superman as well as his current work on Silencer.
I have to include my favorite moment by him with Supergirl where, thinking Lois and Jon have been killed, she goes full force in the Zod, screaming.
And we get an in-depth look at the new Fortress, hidden in the Bermuda Triangle. There is a lot of process discussion with Ivan Reis. I love the peeks into the creative stuff so this was a great bit for me.
I'll also add we learn more about the upcoming Heroes in Crisis mini-series. Start your bets!

Let's hope your guess is right rather than this being the latest instance of DC screwing up Supergirl.

It's likely someone is trying to make out to seem a criminal in order to cover up their tracks. I'll hold judgment until I see how the story plays out, but I doubt the writer is going for a "Dark Supergirl" vibe.
The new Fortress looks very awesome. Regardless that, sooner or later Superman will relocate his stuff back to the Arctic.

That event DiDio has been comparing with "Identity Crisis"? NOT looking forward to it. I'm certain the current events are leading into another Crisis.
Yeah I suspect the vibe here is that the Green Lantern Corps themselves are covering up some prior knowledge of Krypton's destruction or else some complicity, so yeah its a dark storyline, but maybe not centered on a "Dark Supergirl".
I also think "Lost in Space" Supergirl will get old quickly and we will be left buying yet another unmoored Supergirl book that will be forever transition to yet ANOTHER all new setting and supporting cast. I'm getting nostalgic for Wanda Five....hell I'll take Claire Valton...

I love the Amanda Conner-drawn Supergirl #21 variant cover that has shown up suddenly. I spotted it somewhere obscure, possibly from some seller on eBay, and thought it must just be a placeholder cover, until Marc Andreyko confirmed it by retweeting you.

Conner is listed there as the variant artist on #22 as well. I guess she's got the ongoing assignment, which I think is great. Hope it lasts a while!
Was surprised my LCS only ordered 1 copy - which they pull for me. Apparently they don't think Conner has that big of a fan base. I can see that it's not going to draw Artgerm, Hughes, Middleton, or Mack-level interest.
I like the Conner cover, bar the open eye, which looks utterly freaky.
That new Fortress, I see the article saying how cool is is, but I just see a sea of boring icicles. You can't beat the Silver/Bronze age palace of wonder.
