New 52 Temporary Tattoos

I have been relatively intrigued in the branding of DC heroes to the general public since the New 52 was unveiled 2 years ago. While some characters are basically wearing the same costume with a few tweaks, others look quite different. Let's face it, the subtle changes to Batman, Batgirl, and Wonder Woman's respective costumes probably aren't obvious to the average person.

And yet, when I see Superman or Supergirl merchandise outside of comic stores, they are still wearing the more classic togs.

So imagine my surprise when one of the supergirls at home gave me this sheet of temporary tattoos she got at an 'end of year' school party. These are the New 52 versions of all these characters ... and in an item marketed at kids to boot!

These were produced by Savvi and here is a link to their home page: http://www.savvistuff.com/
While there are a couple of Superman and Batman products by the company, I couldn't find this DC universe sheet anywhere. Too bad! I wanted to see that else is being offered!

Here is a close up of the Supergirl tattoo. It is a very nice heroic pose, poised for action. But the expression is great. And, surprisingly, the costume looks pretty good here.

I like that Wonder Woman and Batgirl get solid representation here as well. Heck, Batgirl's tattoo is bigger than Batman's!!

Bottom line, I like seeing Supergirl marketed to kids in any way. I like that DC in some way is trying to streamline things from a comics and merchandising viewpoint.

I don't know who drew this (Kerry Gammill? Claude St. Aubin?) but that's some mighty attractive licensing. Maybe I hate the scabs who still draw DC Comics under the current circumstances more than I hate the New 52 redesigns themselves. Only the Flash looks terrible, while the rest work surprisingly well. Sorry the Martian Manhunter missed out on this, but so did Cyborg, so nyah!

I agree that this is probably the best these costumes have looked. I have been wracking my brain to see if I can figure out the artist. There is a Dan Jurgens feel to these, but not enough to be Jurgens.

I was surprised to see Supergirl here instead of Cyborg, J'Onn, Nightwing, Robin and many others.

But I'll take it!

Of the above images shown, Batgirl, Supergirl and WonderWoman were pencilled by José Luis García-López and all of the male figures were pencilled by Jon Bogdanove. I know, because they were all inked by a close friend, Brett Breeding.

Can't thank you enough for the info!

Bogdanove, Garcia-Lopez, and Breeding! That's a legendary Superman team!
