Review: Tiny Titans/Lil Archie #2

Every so often something so unprecedented, so unexpected, so incredible happens that I am floored.

Tiny Titans Lil Archie #2 came out last week. In what has to be considered an unbelievable confluence of things I love, as if the planetary alignments of my pop culture loves synchronized, Josie and the Pussycats guest starred.

I don't know if I can say just how giddy I was when I saw this cover. It was almost too fantastic. But the inside was even better.

Streaky delivers the Pussycats an invitation to the next Pet Club meeting. Obviously, there must be some confusion. The Pussycats don't have pets (unless you count Gleek Gleek from the 'Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space run ... but they aren't in space here). And I don't see Alexandra, so I don't think Sebastian counts here either.

Still. Streaky and Josie and the Pussycats in the same panel! Unreal.

And so when the next Pet Club meeting is called to order, Robin invites in the Pussycats.

The Titans, Supergirl, and Josie and the Pussycats together for the first time! Insane.

Now I will freely admit that I love Josie and the Pussycats. And it is great that I can enjoy the episodes again on Boomerang.

I mean ... I like Josie and the Pussycats so much that Josie was one of my 2009 jack o'lanterns.

So you put Supergirl and Josie in the same book, something that I never even contemplated as being possible, and I am thrilled.

When the Pussycats confess that they don't have any  pets, Beast Boy volunteers.

It makes perfect sense that Melanie would agree to cuddle up with a kitty-cat  Beast Boy.

The Archies end up showing up in costumes ... but alas without pets.

And now Betty, Veronica, Donna, and Supergirl are all friends now.

Yes it is silly. And yes, I know that this is probably means more to me than others. But I thought this was great. And, just as importantly, the supergirls at home loved it too.

Supergirl, Streaky, and Josie and the Pussycats. Too fantastic!!

  1. I can't believe it they forgot the Archies had a pet dog called Hotdog! Usually he stayed with Jughead and like Jughead he especially loved to eat food a great deal.

BTW, Anj you didn't give this issue a grade for some reason. I take it that it earned an A+ in your book? ;)

  2. Great, now I have the theme song to "Jossie and the Pussycats" playing in my head after reading you review! ;) :P

This has to be the most interesting thing to happen in Archie comics since the Punisher crossover...

Hot Dog does show up in the book when the Archies arrive in costume. He is with Jughead.

And Tiny Titans always gets an A+. But it is graded differently than other books.

  4. Holy freakin' awesome and cute! I'm buying the wrong comics! That cover is amazing! & I love the jack-o-lantern. I love the Josie world traveling, running into mad scientists cartoon, it's great.

Now I should go see if I can get my hands on this, but my comic book guy is soooo disdainful if I neglected to reserve something. Those CBG's I tell ya.

So this post may be all I see of it, thank you!

  5. Alas, the attempted crossover between Archie and Homer Simpson did not work out (hope you can understand Spanish):
