Here is a link to all the solicits over on Newsarama:

The Warworld saga seems to be steamrolling to a close. The opening arc of Superman Son of Kal-El looks like it is nearing an end. And there are plenty of other books out there.
Supergirl is only mentioned in one solicit. She appears on a couple of covers but mostly variants. But I remain hopeful that Phillip Kennedy Johnson is going to do her right in Action Comics. This month is also the middle of Dark Crisis but the main titles of the DCU seem to be churning along despite the main characters being 'dead' in that mini. I remember a time when I knew DC's timeline!
On to the books:
Written by PHILLIP KENNEDY JOHNSON
Art by BRANDON PETERSON and WILL CONRAD
Cover by STEVE BEACH
Variant cover by MARIO "FOX" FOCCILLO
1:25 foil variant cover by MIKEL JANÍN
It has all led to this: the final battle between Superman and Mongul, and between the Authority and Mongul's Unmade Champions! The identity of the hooded stranger has been revealed, uncovering a shocking betrayal that threatens to crush Superman's rebellion forever! But as the fate of Warworld relies on Superman, the last chance to return his powers now lies with Natasha and John Henry Irons. From the visionary creative team of Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Brandon Peterson, and Will Conrad, empires fall and rise and the fourth world is reborn in this jaw-dropping final chapter!
We come to an end of the Warworld Saga with a stand alone final battle issue. I love this variant by Mikel Janin but the main cover looks like a sci-fi barbarian movie poster.
Looks like we won't know the traitors identity until this issue which is fascinating. I like how Steel and Natasha are a key element in the finale. I like John Henry and feel we haven't seen as much of him as we should.

I must admit I love this saucy cover of Clark and Lois now that he is back on Earth. Will he reclaim the name Superman? Somewhere out there I saw Johnson loves Metallo so perhaps he is one of the 'two most iconic villains'.
And the ancient enemy has to be Olgrun, the god from the Necropolis. Glad to hear the whole super-family has to pitch in! Give me some Supergirl action!
SUPERMAN: SON OF KAL-EL #15
Written by TOM TAYLOR
Art by CIAN TORMEY
Cover by TRAVIS MOORE
Variant cover by DAVID TALASKI
1:25 variant cover by PAMELA HOOGEBOOM
This is it! The ultimate battle pitting Superman and the forces of The Truth against Bendix and his monstrous machinations has begun! But victory will be an uphill climb for our heroes as they lay siege to Gamorra. Plus…the smooch heard 'round the world.

Heroes laying siege to Gamorra. History is written by the victors.
At least it seems like this story is coming to a close. I'm ready for something new.
BATMAN/SUPERMAN: WORLD'S FINEST #7
Written by MARK WAID
Art and cover by DAN MORA
Variant cover by JOSHUA MIDDLETON
1:25 variant cover by PETE WOODS
1:50 variant cover by TODD NAUCK
BRAND-NEW STORY ARC! The untold story of Superman's short-lived sidekick is at last revealed, but what secret connection to one of DC's most timeless tales does this story foreshadow? Only time will tell (that's a clue, folks). The next epic arc in the World's Finest saga begins here! INTRODUCING: BOY THUNDER!
Now this sounds interesting. Who is Boy Thunder? And what story is it referencing? Hmmm ...

perhaps I know. This book has been pure joy in my veins so far.
Couldn't help but post this rare variant that includes the Linda Danvers Matrix Supergirl by Todd Nauck!
SUPERMAN: SPACE AGE #2
Written by MARK RUSSELL
Art and cover by MICHAEL ALLRED
Variant cover by DAVE JOHNSON
1:25 variant cover by NICK DERINGTON
Superman has arrived and he's out of sight! Right? The world may love him, but the citizens of Metropolis are growing skeptical as the cities around them suffer without the help of the Man of Steel. The world doesn't need saving as much as it needs changing, and Superman and his super friends in the Justice League seem unqualified to save the day the way they once did. Could this be the beginning of the end that Pariah prophesied? Or is it just a sign of the times?
Pariah is in this too!!!

Anyways, perhaps this is Mark Russell looking at how tough it will be to have super-heroes work as social changers. Or perhaps he'll show us how they could.

I have liked this series way more than I thought I would so I am pretty pleased it is getting this extra special book. Zala isn't Kara ... but she is as close as we are going to get in this book. Glad we'll get some of her back story here. And love this variant of her.

I still don't know that I am going to be getting a DC vs Vampires book. But it is the only book that mentions Supergirl by name. She seems like she is a big part of this book. And to get to see Otto Schmidt draw her. I guess I'm in.
DARK CRISIS #4

Variant cover by TERRY DODSON and RACHEL DODSON
1:25 variant cover by DAN JURGENS and NORM RAPMUND

Witness the birth of the new DC Multiverse!
Spinning out of the pages of The Flash, the heroes have learned the secret of Pariah's new worlds—but at what cost does this knowledge come, and what can they even do with this information—or even worse, perhaps Pariah and the Great Darkness want them to know…? On Earth-Zero, Deathstroke continues to move forward with his plans to erase legacy heroics once and for all, while Jon Kent, Nightwing, and the ragtag group of youngsters rally to step up to the increasing number of challenges. The event of the year rages on!
Dark Crisis is in many ways the direct sequel to the original Crisis on Infinite Earths by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez. In this issue Pariah's attempt to restore the infinite Multiverse reaches a breaking point! Stay tuned for a special announcement at SDCC 2022 that will change all you know about Dark Crisis!

New worlds? Is Pariah making a multiverse?
Deathstroke killing heroes on the main world? Why is he so formidable?
Deathstroke killing heroes on the main world? Why is he so formidable?
That last paragraph feels like DC trying to utilize the passing of George Perez as a sales tool.
Anyways, seems like a full month. Definitely looking forward to the Action stuff!
Did I miss anything?
I wish I could afford that 1:50 Todd Nauk cover for World's Finest. It's been a long time since Linda Danvers has been seen.
ReplyDeleteSame cost problem with the 1:25 Ejikure cover for Dark Knights of Steel: Tales from the Three Kingdoms.
The cartoony main cover by Neil Googe for DKNOS:TFTTK also features Zala Jor-El, and from the solicitation text, it seems likely the featured stories could be of them when they were kids, which would justify the children that Googe drew.
