October 2019 Sales Review
The October Sales figures have come out and ICv2 does their usual excellent job covering all the nooks and crannies. Here is a link to the story:

DC really doesn't show up high on the charts and even then it is Joker one-shots and the like. I am amazed Spawn somehow is near the top. Sherman, set the WABAC machine.
So how did Supergirl fare?
Supergirl #35 was another good issue re-establishing Supergirl on Earth. It had a strong tie in to Event Leviathan. And it actually felt like Kara was returning to form.
While this issue had a variant, it did not have a card stock variant. So the number you see is the total sales.
So how did it do?
Whereas prior issues have inched near 23K, this issue sold only 19,102, landing at 138.
It is a little disheartening that just when the character seems to be finding her way, sales take a bit of a dip.
I suppose sales will spike when she goes evil and DC will think that means people like an evil Supergirl.
Sigh.
Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
And what about Event Leviathan #5?
I thought for sure the last page would be the reveal...
It looks like my sweet spot for comics is the 40K range.
Leviathan, Superman, Action, Green Lantern, Legion Millennium ... all in that range.
Glad to see these books having healthy sales. I have been pleased with all of them.
Wondering if Jody Houser coming on board Supergirl will give the book a little boost?
Covers do seem to matter. The main cover didn't even feature Supergirl, but is a Leviathan cover, while the variant was one of the many DCeased-themed covers of the month, and in my opinion not up to par with most of the recent Supergirl variant covers.
ReplyDeleteDerrick Chew will be back with more of his dynamic colorful work for the next several books, and I would imagine that will improve sales.
T.N.
Sales could also be down because everyone knows another useless cheap heat heel turn in right around the corner....
