DC Superhero Girls Mini-figure

As I was walking through Target to buy some last minute Valentine's Day gifts earlier this month, I stumbled across this DC Superhero Girls mini-figure of Supergirl.

I had seen this toy on Twitter when blog pals who purchased it showed it to me. But this was the first time I saw it in the wild and knew I needed to buy it.

I love this thing to pieces.

First off, the packaging is just delightful with the stars both outside the box and inside the box. It is a very engaging package.

As for the figure itself, it really just exudes joy.

This is a smiling, happy Kara flying in the clouds. The pose of a hand raised and cape flowing is wonderful.

But it is the expression that gets me. Who wouldn't be this thrilled and elated to be among the clouds!

Fantastic.

The back of the toy is pretty simple. There are nice lines to the hair and cape. But the magic of this thing is the front.

I do like the hair swooshing to the side.

The figure found an immediate home in the shrine. There is suddenly a little nook of DC Superhero Girls merchandise. This one slid right between the official toy and the Happy Meal figure.

This costume of the golf shirt and Chuck Taylors has always worked for me. On this figure it works wonderfully.

Hurray!

  1. That toy is absolutely adorable. Kara oozes innocence and happiness. I'd love to own it.

Your collection has gone a long way since you started blogging, hasn't it? This is what it looked like eight and half years ago:

Not bad for a character who allegedly had limited licensing possibilities and was supposedly unprofiteable, unmarketable and expendable, right?

(Funny that DC has taken almost six decades to realize Supergirl is an ideal character to get new, young female readers interested in comics)

I eagerly look forward to your Supergirl #7 review. God, I need to read that issue. Superman Homepage -whose reviewers often make me think they're constantly looking for excuses to give Kara's books low grades- graded it 5/5.

Maybe I have spent too much??

  3. I have this little gem along with Harley Quinn from DCSHG. Based on preview pics I have seen these are the two cutest ones. And Kara's look screams cuteness overload. This is pure joy!

Well actually SH grades on three things...story, art and cover art. The story and cover art got 5's. The art overall ranked a 3. So overall Supergirl #7 averages a 4.3 out of 5 or 13/15...which is VERY VERY GOOD.

    No, you have not.

Friends of mine are Transformers toys collectors.

  5. Great find Anj, and like it's place in the shrine. Definitely though, can't knock what Shea F and co are doing with DCSHG and the WW/BG/SG Trinity! As I've said before, To TPTB, let Shea F and co keep doing whatever it is they're doing!

    Regards

The toy is beautiful. Any chance of a review of Supergirl at Super Hero High by Lisa Yee? http://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/534605/supergirl-at-super-hero-high-dc-super-hero-girls-by-lisa-yee-illustrated-by-random-house/9781101940624/

It is the first Supergirl novel since the novelization of the movie over thirty years ago.
