Overall it looks like it is going to be a great issue. But here are the preview panels that had me thinking.
So Reactron's ex-girlfriend lives on Mooney Drive? Somewhere Jim Mooney is smiling. But look at Superwoman. She is in a hurry to leave before the Science Police arrive.
Is that because, despite her claims, she is Kryptonian and knows that the UN decree is being enforced?

When Reactron tries to kill his ex-girlfriend before leaving, Superwoman jumps in front of his beams. Rather than have them strike her, she blocks them with her weird looking eye beams. That seems odd to me.
But the eye beams are stranger. These are not the usual straight lasers of heat vision. These are different. Maybe she really isn't Kryptonian.
One thing we do know ... she is evil.
I don't care if General Lane is blackmailing her and ordered her to kill this woman, this is evil. This is worse, in my mind, than killing Agent Liberty. At least there you could say there was a military feel to it ... that they were soldiers on opposite sides.
This woman was helpless and was murdered. That is chilling.
Look at those eye beams again. I hope this isn't flame vision. Please do not let this manipulated murderer be Linda Danvers. I don't know what I would do.
And did you notice the sound effect again? The 'vzzt' when the vision is shot? Is that the beam itself or is it (like the radio crackles before) a clue that she is more machine than organism?

Here Superwoman flies off with Reactron while the woman's apartment explodes. Brrrrrr ....
So are there any clues in these pages that help us solve this mystery that Sterling Gates and Jamal Igle are telling?
I don't know what to think anymore. And, as I have said before, that is the sign of a good mystery!

How far we have come from the days of sudden extrusions of crystal spikes, walking around starkers in front of daddykins and dead Kryptonian schoolchildren.
ReplyDeleteIndeed a good mystery, thanks to all for it and a whole new feeling for the Supergirl book.

The 'vzzt' sound efect might have something to do with Brainiac...
ReplyDeleteMaybe she is a Brainiac creation, and he made her believe that she belonged to the house of El or something?
I'm so glad not that it isn't Thara under the mask. If it were Linda, well i'd be glad to see Linda back, but making her evil is a rubbish way to do it.

Didn't they do that already? Wasn't that Cir-El's deal, and didn't they retcon her out of existence..? Yeah, I don't think they're gonna be doing that again, interesting as it would be, given Braniac's ominous role in the New Krypton story...
If it is Linda, I'll be pissed that she's a villain, but I don't think it's her, simply because I don't think that the folks at DC have any respect for the character; I'm still reeling from the slap-in-the-face that was "Reign in Hell."
Unfortunately, I think it might be Lucy Lane, just because of simple things like her expressions, and saying things like "Stand Down," a military order, to Reactron.
I don't know that I want it to be her, though...
I hope Supergirl cleans the streets with Superwoman's face for what she did to that young lady.
ReplyDeleteI also hope it's not Linda.. and if it is then DC screw up again, not for selecting her but because she's not suppose to have angel powers anymore.. they should read their own back issues..

My feelings exactly. Things are the best they have been since Kara returned to the DCU.

Thanks for the post.
Some sort of robot/android has been posed before. Certainly a rogue Brainiac drone of some sort would make some sense.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the post.
I couldn't agree more.
I don't want Linda to come back as someone who would immolate an innocent woman to she could hide her tracks.

Technically she could call the House of El her family because she is Kal's sister-in-law.
That doesn't necessarily explain the powers, Kryptonese, and place on Kandor. So I agree I that I also don't know if I want it to be Lucy.

I think it would be horrible to make this evil woman turn out to be Linda. Hopefully the creative team realizes that a Linda reveal might not be well received.
I hope Supergirl cleans the streets with Superwoman's face for what she did to that young lady.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
Before this preview I felt Superwoman had good intentions but acted on them inappropriately. Now I think she is just evil.
Good Lord! o_O Man after this "Superwoman" has some real proving to us readers that she deserves the mantle after having 1) killed Agent Liberty and 2) now an innocent pedestrian here now too! YIKES!!!
ReplyDeleteHowever, in having had said all of that, truly looking forward to this issue out this week regardless! :D
