Kenneth Rocafort On Action Comics

I talked about this a while back but the news has been confirmed over on the DCU Source blog. Kenneth Rocafort is going to be the artist on Action Comics starting with Action Comics #900. Here is the link:

Here is a blurb from the post.

“We knew we needed really powerful covers for a story as big as ‘Reign of Doomsday,’ but who could possibly fill those shoes? Enter Art Director Mark Chiarello, who drew our attention to the amazing artwork of Mr. Kenneth Rocafort. Once we saw it, we KNEW Kenneth was the perfect guy for these covers — an artist who could really hammer home how bombastic and brutal this ‘Reign of Doomsday’ story is gonna be!”

Now I will be the first to admit that I am going to miss Pete Woods. His work has been absolutely stellar on the super-titles over the last couple of years. But Rocafort has a frenetic energetic feel that I think will be spectacular in the Reign of Doomsday story and moving forward.

I think this is another move by DC to create some buzz for Superman moving forward in 2011.

  1. His art looks like Anime - like it could start moving and be a fully animated movie any second. So I have some high hopes for him on Action Comics.

  2. Where does it say he's taking over interior art?! He's just doing the covers right...?
