It really is a beautiful statue....Congratulations! It really is a beautiful statue. Maybe it's the best Supergirl statue out there. And it's nice that this line of Joelle Jones figures are at a slightly larger scale than the previous DC Cover Girls.

By the way, I hope you don't mind my mentioning this, but going by the pictures and videos I've seen, of Supergirl as well as the Harley Quinn and Batgirl statues, I believe that the figure should be placed in the base so that the "Joelle" signature is in the front.

Yesterday (I think it was yesterday) Sideshow Collectibles announced a new Premium Format Supergirl statue based on the art of Stanley (Artgerm) Lau. I think that's what Anonymous above is referring to. It's interesting that Sideshow would revisit Supergirl so soon, seeing that they put out a Premium Format of Kara just last year. Happy to see Supergirl getting the attention, but I will not even consider buying that one. Those Sideshow statues are a little too expensive for me...but if you happen to have an extra $500 or so just lying around..... But the first version was much more sexualized. By contrast the second version is tame or at least not as revealing. The pose may still be somewhat provocative or coquettish. Anj's comment when the design first appeared was, "Here is another Kotobukiya that I definitely will be skipping. This one is a little too manga and a little too sexualized. Not for me." Personally, I find it comparably beautiful to the Joelle Jones statue.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2669531469217423923.post-74097815308746101042018-05-17T19:04:15.048-04:002018-05-17T19:04:15.048-04:00I think there's a new version of the Koto that...I think there's a new version of the Koto that is more modest.

As for those HeroClix I wrote about, there are several versions of the 2004 Supergirl from different game series, one of which has a black variant; and 2 versions that I know of for New 52 Supergirl, one of which is Red Lantern.

- Regular 2004 costume (I think I saw this on one of Anj's shelves, which is how I first learned these exist):

https://www.trollandtoad.com/p154980.html

- Dark Supergirl 2004 costume (same piece, different paint):

https://www.trollandtoad.com/p215384.html

- "Darkseid assassin" 2004 Supergirl:

http://www.gamehollow.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=30_75_494&products_id=18411&osCsid=uvl6ja8nnjpnjo5lqsgs6el680

- Another 2004 Supergirl:

https://herominis.com/supergirl-sm010-dc-superman-010.html

- New 52 regular costume:

http://glasscabinethobbies.com/product/heroclix-superman-and-wonder-woman-053a-supergirl/

- New 52 Red Lantern costume - this one is very rare.

https://www.trollandtoad.com/p1082875.html

I really like the New 52 with Supergirl floating.

Whew. (I know you think the Koto one is too sexualized, but I am disinclined to see a little sexiness as a bad thing.)

Besides the great poses and gorgeous sculpts, the thing that makes these statues stand out are the faces. There's a sense of life and personality to both that's often lacking in these things. Indeed, as geek.com's reviewer astutely observed, the bishoujo one has "the look of a woman whose thoughts are on something more important than titillating you."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2669531469217423923.post-22048458229445167362018-05-17T10:34:02.722-04:002018-05-17T10:34:02.722-04:00That's a beautiful statue, and a great additio...That's a beautiful statue, and a great addition to your collection. You must be very proud.

And, yes, that's a truly impressive scultping work. I'm amazed.

By the way, Jöelle Jones was interviewed by Supergirltv. Link here, in case you haven't read it:

https://supergirl.tv/interview-with-joelle-jones

"I recently got 3 HeroClix including the Dark Suoergirk version of the HeroClix you have on one of your shelves. I’m pondering if I should get the same one in the regular costume too. And am I nuts enough to consider buying the rare Red Lantern HeroClix? It’s the same as the New 52 piece, but dressed as the Lantern."

Seriously? Are there Dark Supergirl and RL Supergirl HeroClix?

"Speaking of art, previewsworld is showing all of the covers for the upcoming Wonder Woman 47 and 48, and they are all Must Haves. Lupaccino drew one of them, and Jenny Frisson drew two. The good news is there’s visible conflict in just one of the four covers; WW and Supergirl are actually standing or working together as a team in two of them. And the final one, my favorite, is 47b - arms around each other and laughing heartily, while each is eating a large raspberry swirl soft-serve ice cream in a waffle cone!"

Good to know.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2669531469217423923.post-29309991882172775372018-05-17T10:00:25.863-04:002018-05-17T10:00:25.863-04:00Beautiful!!

Especially the big soaring one close to middle. There's a few I would like to score on ebay. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
