The earlier Supergirl was headstrong and overconfident, which I appeciate more. Under Puckett, Palmiotti, and the first Gates issue, there were too many dumb blond moments.

Also, I disagree with obnoxious. I like her betted speaking her mind. Now, the books about self doubt, restraint, and ridding her of hormones and sex appeal. She's just been kind of boring, and that's the anomaly, because that hadn't been the case with her since the 50's and 60's.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2669531469217423923.post-56387987872957459332011-04-11T13:26:31.430-04:002011-04-11T13:26:31.430-04:00Well is Superman is the "King" of the Re...Well is Superman is the "King" of the Red-S Franchise, then it is logical for Lois to assume that she is it's Queen by right of Marriage to Kal El. I can see how Kara Zor El would resent this given her onetime status as a "Princess" (if a hard pressed one) on New Krypton. Queens can be bossy and presumptuous, Supergirl could easily see some parallels between Lois and Kara's own late overbearing mother.
Just some thoughts...

John FeerAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2669531469217423923.post-78913879037845310262011-04-11T13:06:26.391-04:002011-04-11T13:06:26.391-04:00Lois is a hard-charging, dynamic, and always in-co...Lois is a hard-charging, dynamic, and always in-control personality, and those types often violate boundaries without meaning to even with the people they're closest with (yes, I that's a bit of self-commentary.) No matter how close they may have become I can imagine any number of ways that Lois could over-step, mostly dealing with her need to be in control of all situations. We don't know that it comes from asking for help, it could very well come from making commitments for Kara without asking to setting 'Linda' up on a blind date like she recently did with Jimmy Olsen. All relationships have bumps, if they develop organically from the characters and the story I'll enjoy it. I can just hear a conversation like "Kara, we have an investigation at Stanhope college to do. I've enrolled you for this term, here's your class schedule." I could almost hear the "Say whaaa??" in the first three sentences of her response.

I don't think the Loeb Kara is coming back - SHE was the anomaly in 50 years of Supergirl stories, not the Supergirl as currently portrayed.

Martin, I totally agree. While I'm with anon about missing David's Linda Danvers, I don't miss the obnoxious, selfish narcissist Kara from the first two years.
